20 cents per 17 gal = $3.40 more per tank (if the tank is EMPTY). I used reg in the past but ending paying higher maintaince cost. I'm stick to 93 or higher and branded: Mobil, Chevron, Shell, 76. No other ones...

think about this: if all gas works equally on engines, why have choices? Acura recommends premium on all their lineup.

just my 2 cents...
What do you mean higher maintenance costs? I've always used 87 in my 03 V6 (62k miles), with absolutely no problems. The Acura cars are tuned to run on higher octane. Honda cars are not.

I forget who it was, but there was an expert on some car show that said, "Buying higher octane gas, than your car requires, is like buying shoes two sizes too large for your feet". "You get more shoe, but if they don't fit your feet, you could do more harm than good". With Octane, and shoes, get the right size.

My 03 V6, with 80k miles on it, still runs as smooth as ever, with the original plugs still in it, on 87 octane. IMO, the detergent additives are the important thing, to keep the engine burning clean. I filled up with 93 octane twice (after a hurricane, and I had to take what they had), and saw no difference in anything but the price.

Let's not pretend anyone here is buying themselves gifts because their huge savings by buying regular fuel.
Then let's also stop pretending that you actually feel or use the extra hp you get from premium. My engine has been running for 127k miles (so far), and still runs just as good as day one, on 87 octane (no additives either).

You're debating with 2012. LOL
I can picture him sitting there (for 3 years, 7 months), patiently waiting for my reply. Now he can get up and get on with his life (he should probably shave and take a shower first).

I was at 300k miles in my last 94 Accord using cheapest gas (7 eleven, raceway, walmart, kroger, etc). I use fuel injector cleaner every 6 months, but I had no ill effects of using low tier gas.
If you use "top tier" gas, you don't need to buy fuel injector cleaner. If you add the cost of the cleaner to the "low tier" gas price, it probably evens out.
