OEM is nothing special. I basically only run Fram air filters now because of cost & availability.

Only OEM one I had was what came with the car, never a problem with cheaper ones.

Fram is a good brand and their products are supposed to meet OEM standards. Some of the eBay ones don't fit quite right.

Is there a difference between oem air filter and fram?
The purpose of air filter: prevent dust getting into the engine. Basically the same as air filters at home. You won't notice much difference between a $20 3M filter and a $2 Homedeopt filter (unless you are super allergic to something in the air).

I think the difference between the most expensive and the cheapest air filters is little to none, just some paper in a plastic frame, dirt cheap to make (regardless of brand). Anything would work just fine.

I have used the same K&N drop-in air filter for the last 10.5 years. Re-oiled maybe 5 times. I don't spend a single dollar on any air filter. No, I don't have any engine problem either.
