Purchased a nice used 2005 Accord 2 door, 2.4 4cyl with 77,000 miles, After we drove off the lot CEL came on. returned to the dealer they fixed it said it was vacuum leak. About 1 week later the CEL came on again, This time I stopped at Advanced auto first, They scanned it and it had a P0139 code, secondary heated o2 sensor , slow response. So I returned to the dealer again , I told them what I had found out from Advanced. So:dunno: they replaced the 02 sensor and the light was off. About 200 miles later the CEL is on again, same code P0139, This time I replaced the 02 sensor myself and reset the light with my scangauge. seems to be ok. looks like the dealer did replace the 02 sensor, could it have been a bad one? or do I have another problem? Could it be the 02 sensor on the drivers side exhaust manifold? The one I replaced is in the catalytic converter. Please help !!!

So you replaced the 02 sensor yourself? How hard was that? I read somewhere that you have to disconnect the 02 sensor from under the passengers seat and feed the wires out under the car? Also, I'm wondering how hard it is to remove the sensor from the catalytic converter? Any input would be appreciated since I have the P0139 code as well and I need to fix it and I am trying to avoid taking to Honda which will charge me some where around 300 - 400 bucks to replace it. When I talk to my guy at Honda he said that the P0139 has to do with that sensor not that cat, he said if it was the cat it would show up with another P _ _ _ code.

Since second time CEL set after 200 miles then I think a)they used wrong sensor or b)they did not replace the sensor but just cleared the code. 200 miles is a distance for the computer to get emission system readiness codes.
Why did you not insist to fix them this problem for you?

I've replaced the O2 sensor for that CEL code. It is the sensor at the cat right under the front passenger seat. Its actually a pretty easy replacement. The electrical connector is right underneath the seat at the floor so if you unbolt the seat, lift up the front of the seat, the plug should be on the floor, you can't miss it. I've heard many people said that OEM sensor is the way to go because our cars don't like aftermarket sensors. Hope this helps.

I changed out the sensor with a Denso replacement, seemed to be working fine for a few days but then the engine light came back on. Have to have them run diagnostics to see what code is coming up now.

How many miles did you drive since sensor change when CEL came back on?

I too am having the same problem of the CEL returning after a week of driving. Does anyone ever get the problem fixed?
I clear the code by disconnecting the negative cable on the battery.
I changed the sensor with a Denso. Changed the gas cap. About 200 miles was the mark when the light returned.
This time it came on after 150 miles.
Did anyone ever resolve this issue.
At this point I don't think it is the sensor-after being replaced.

Any advice?
