While checking my oil, I noticed that the air intake temperature sensor did not look like it was inserted all the way into the intake tube. So I disconnected it and reconnected it (engine off). My check engine light came on and the OBD2 scanner showed a P0113 air intake temp sensor code. What I find weird is that I can’t erase the code. I even tried disconnecting the battery and the code is still there.
When looking at the live data, the air intake temp shows -37°C which is weird because the outdoor air temperature is around 0°C.
Will this sensor “self-adjust” or is it something I should replace?

It is a one variable resistor, changes resistance values up or down as temp changes. Check wiring to be on safe side. It is possible that you may need to replace it.

Wiring insulation damage or short will skew the reading output say for example is resistance is lower, the temp will increase and wise versa. I'm not sure if it is 10kohm positive or negative temp sensor.

on my way home, about 3minutes after starting the car, the CEL went away..... temp was reading -33C

Despite the CEL disappearing, the intake air temperature was still wrong and it bothered me. Turns out, the sensor nipple was broken off.
Honda dealer wanted $80 for a brand new IAT sensor (P/N 37880-PLC-004)
Decided to go to the scrap yard and collected a couple of IAT sensors for $15.
Intake air temperature readings are now correct.
