Just picked up my new car and was wondering if any of you have experience painting your brake calipers?

I would be interested in the best high quality way of doing this, not looking for a DIY that is gonna come off after a few years.

Is it best to buy new calipers and send them to someone to have finished due to the time required or can I take the car somewhere and have it done to my current calipers?

Thanks for the insight!

Paint will be more than sufficient. I used a flat black Rustoleum paint and it held for the 6 years I owned a previous car back in the mid 2000's, no peeling or flaking off. It was not high temp either. People will try to tell you you need high temp. Your calipers will never reach the temps that will require it, unless you track your car and have aggressive pad/rotor combo.

Remove the caliper retainer pins, tape off all surrounding areas,(rotors, pads, struts, etc ) to protect from any overspray. Make sure the calipers are cleaned and free from all dust and oils. I always used denatured alcohol plus it drys quickly.

Spray a nice even coat of quality primer, and finish off with a 2-3 coats of color of your choice.

This is what I used and never had a problem. it held up fine to cleaning chemicals, road grime, oils etc . It was easy to apply and did not drip. Dry time between coats was short, so it's a few hour job at the most. Only needed to touch up a couple times when I wasn't careful changing my rotors and pads. If you go with Powder Coating and if it ever chips it could be difficult trying to find a touch up that easily matches it.

Did mine today. I used the G2 kit of Amazon. G2 High Temperature Brake Caliper Paint System Set RED G2160

Last car lasted 9 years and they still looked good, never flaked, chipped etc. Expensive but this paint is really good. Get a couple of different sizes hobby paint brushes and some making tape. Make sure you can have all for wheels off at the same time, cause the paint will only be good for about 4 hours.
