Decided to paint the rocker guards on my 07 accord i4 and thought i might share my experience and methods used to help others.

Locating the paint was tedious but after 3 Canadian tires and autoparts store I found the exact color to match my car. (Alabaster silver) Also picked up primer and clear coat.

Make sure to also get a face mask and eye protection:yes:

Alabaster Silver Metalic. NH-700m. Candian tire SKU:47-9020

To take off the panel first remove the 3 screws on the mud guards. Make sure to turn the wheels so access it easier

Then underneath the car you will see 3 clips. one on each side and one in the middle, just stick a Flathead screwdriver and pop them open. Then with a rubber mallet gently hit the rocker guard forward towards the car and it should slide forward and come off. Now wash it good.

Sand the 2 pieces down with wet 200 grit sandpaper until it was smooth

I put on 3 coats of prime for safe measures:thmsup:. Wait 10 minutes between coats and take your time. I then sanded it down with wet 600 grit. Should look something like this when finished

Then give it a quick wash, make sure it completely dry, i used a hairdryer

Wait 1 hour then clean it off an begin spraying with the silver coat. Very light coats, 10 minutes between each one. I did 4 coats to perfectly match the color. The 2 cans lasted perfectly to finish the 4. Patience is key to painting and DO NOT OVER SPRAY!

I don't paint the bottom of it to save paint :)

After the 4th coat of silver I waited 1 hour before applying clearcoat. I also used 4 light coats to give it a smooth and shiny finish.

And then put back on the car. Apply it back on same steps as when disassembled.

It turned out great and matched the color perfectly.
Big thanks to Nexon and the other members for their help since I've never painted car parts before I needed all the help T can get:thumbsup:

Looks good. Should have painted the splash guards too.....

You did a great job! Since you have the technique use the same steps to wet sand the color coat with 1500 or 2000 and the clear coat. A little rubbing, polishing cmpd. and you'll be finished. With what you have learned with the rocker panel and maybe the splash gaurds, you can paint anything.
GOOD JOB!

My LX came with the chrome trim.
I just painted my side skirts too!! A friend took it to his dealer and did both for $35.
