19" is perfect size. 20's look silly. There are a few guys with 20's that look good but it takes are very specific design wheel and proper setup.

The sedan's handle the size of 20's well. The coupe I feel like sits well on smaller rims. I like the 19's lamchee has! Gives me a good idea of what I was looking for. What are your tire specs?

So I have a '14 coupe and am looking into coilovers and a new rim and tire combo.

I don't love the stock alloys nor would I pay for the OEM sport rims at the price point they're at. I'm casually window shopping the forums for nice styles and sizes but apparently I'm in the minority. Alot of the cars I've seen with aftermarket rims have been 20" or 19". I wanted to keep my rim size around 18" with lower profile tires and a slight drop.

Would 18's just not fill up the wheel well? Did everyone just want bigger rims? Any 9th gen coupes with aftermarket 18's I can check out?

Also I get that wide tires means more grip but cramming 10 inch tires into the coupe doesn't seem right.

Opinions and pics welcome.
18-19"
rolled fenders
slight drop
wider tires
wheel spacers

it'll look nasty. you can program different tire sizes to your ABS/VSA unit, so odometer and speed calibration issues wont be a problem. i dont know how wide the tolerance is tho. but information is easy to find nowadays

I am looking at a set of enkei 19x9's right now.

Rolling fenders necessary or just because?

Offset is 50 with a 5-10 mm spacer would probably sit flush. Still have alot of research to do.

While I have a sedan when I was looking to upgrade my wheels I was having the same dilemma. Do I go 18" or 19"? In the end I decided to stay with 18" due to cost and the condition of the roads around here. While no doubt that the car would handle and look better with the 19" combo I didn't want to deal with blown tires or bent wheels all the time. And trust me I saw plenty of that this past Winter...
If OP lives in the south or somewhere it does not snow I guess 19"s is fine. In the northeast 19"s must have been dying like flies with all the potholes last winter. It was like a warzone out there.

I'm just north of DC, potholes are way worse in and around the city but I'm mostly highway and suburbs.

Another thing is the snowfall in MD is generally random and can range from HUGE storms to very light dustings with some slush

I dont think I need to get a winter set and a summer set I'd probably leave 18's or 19's in thicker sidewalls than what lamchee has.

I may end up on 18's with decent thickness in sidewalls like OEM sport tires

This trend of cars with stupidly huge OEM wheels needs to go away. The Accord doesn't need anything larger than a 18" wheel to look good, and even 18" wheels with the 2.4L motor is too much if performance and mileage is what you're after.

A lightweight 18" wheel is a different matter, but the OEM 18" Honda wheels are approaching 30lbs. I'm sure marketing won out over the engineers on that as Hondas have always had smaller wheels in the past.

Don't get me wrong, a nice OEM 18" or 19" wheel looks good on the car. Aside from that, something that large has zero other benefits.

And "fill up the wheel well" is a function of tire size, not really wheel size. Lowering a car even on the OEM wheel/tire package does wonders.

I absolutely HATE the 2013/2014 ex,exl/touring wheels.
The sport wheel is a GREAT looking wheel... it should be on all of the sport and higher models.

If anyone is interested on that note... I have a BRAND new set of falken ZE912 225-45-18's as well as a set of falken 245-35-19 tires if anyone is interested in upgrading your wheel/tire size. I purchased both in anticipation of picking up either sport wheels, or HFP wheels.
PM me for details.
Selling cheap

Where will this end? 5 years ago 18's were huge now people want 20's. Are 22's going to show up on Accords in a few years? Can't understand spending a lot of money to hurt the performance, looks and resale value of a car just to keep up with a trend.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what is the weight difference between Sport wheels and HFP 19" wheels?

Fair enough... and I agree to a point.
Obviously a lot of us buy certain options or cars based solely on looks...
Not to say your theory on weight/power is wrong... but for some it doesn't matter.

I don't think that the added weight makes THAT big of a difference... because lets face it if that were the case... wouldn't Honda put the lightweight hybrid alloy on ALL of the accord models to be able to gain that extra MPG that may or may not be there?

They put the 18" wheel on the 4cyl because it meets the needs of what their younger buyers are looking for... as well as a few body mods and the dual exhaust. Clearly all cosmetic.

I personally would take a 17" wheel if it LOOKED like the 18" and it would be marginally lighter than the 18"
Hell the 19" HFP looks amazing for 2013-2014 (however I like the 2008-2012 19" HFP design more)

To each their own :)

i got 38.8 mpg the other day doing the speed limit on a 42 mile trip.

If you speed then you will use up gas and brake more often harder. The sedans were designed to accommodate 5 passengers. So a little weight has not AFFECTED me at all.

Lowering it makes the vehicle stiff and a much more bumpy ride but better handling. I dont do that mod. Why mess with a perfectly tuned car? To each his own. I'm a commuter and I dont race my car. It's a Honda not a BMW M3 et cetera. To each his own tastes.

Wheel = Niche Targas 20x8.5
Tire = Toyos Extensa HP 245/35/20
35+ offset

Stock Diameter = 26.311 in
After Diameter = 26.751 in

1.6% increase

You never want to go over 3%.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about a winter set in DC. Potholes on 95 next to Philly were brutal last winter. I hit many that were not optional... meaning it was either pothole or drive into the semi next to me.

Just something to think about. I have 3 friends who blew tires this winter, I believe all 18s, one might have been 19s.

It is just something to think about that is never mentioned by the guys with 20" rims.

Ahhh....My take on this as an old guy, ex-racer who's still interested in (practical) GT performance:

... the stock 17" wheels and Primacy tires on the EX-L V6 are perfectly adequate. Not for me. tho.
... the OEM 18" Sport wheels (Enkie produced) and MXM4s, which I have, are a distinct step up. Wheels are a good color match with my MSM. Pilots would be better and I may change.
... 19" HFPs look good but are a wee bit much for my aged tastes.
... I agree with a previous comment that the 20's look silly...to imo childish if done really wrong.

Wife's car is a Civic Si with 17's that we wouldn't think about changing.

The OEM Sport wheels do fill the gap nice especially with a slight drop, I have H&R Springs on my car and the Sport Wheels will leave a once finger gap all around. I'm going on Airrex/Accuair and I decided to go with Work Gnosis HS203 Spoke Wheels in 19's which will be on 40 series tires. Being bagged would give me room to play with. From what I've been seeing on here and on Instagram, 19's and 20's have been the most popular size. It depends on the wheel also, I notice especially with the wheels I have now (XXR 527) skinny spoke rims that are 18's looks small compared to the mesh design of the OEM Sports. I think if you stick with 18's mesh designed wheels will compliment the body of the car such as VIP Mods, Work VS-XX, or anything from Infinitewerks . Going spoke such as TE37, Work SP1 Meisters, or Rotiforms should be done in 19's. It would actually compliment the big body the car has. This is all just my opinion from test fitting wheels and actually seeing different designs on my car.
