Hello everyone, newbie to the Honda Forum here.
I'm having an issue with my 2005 Accord Ex, 2.4L. 105k miles, automatic.
I got the car a little over a year ago from a family member. Car ran great, never an issue. Earlier this year I parked it and let it sit, I use our SUV over the summer for road trips and such. About 2 weeks ago I decide to go get the Honda up and running again. The battery is dead, and I mean dead. Less than 2 volts static charge. I hook up the trickle charger, 24 hours on an auto charge and the battery is back to life. I start the car and it starts and dies. Starts and dies. I have to play with the throttle to get it running and it will eventually sit and idle. Almost any push on the throttle and it dies. Putting it into Reverse or Drive and it dies.
Now, please don't hate one me, I have 20 years of experience working on cars, but all in a BMW dealership. So, the good is I have an idea of what I'm doing under the hood. The bad is I have 20 years of brand specific knowledge, so common problems on other brands are not my specialty.
Here are the symptoms and work done so far:
Dead battery, fully recharged and works fine. Car starts but dies almost immediately. Some sputtering but not for long. I start the car again, playing with the throttle and it will idle. I touch the throttle too quickly and the car dies. There is also a misfire. Not a dead miss but just an intermittent miss, its more noticeable by listening to the exhaust than really feeling it in the engine. I look under the hood, intake boot is split in 2. Replace the boot. Still starts and runs the same. I have done the "idle learn" by revving to 3k until up to operating temp. and then idle for 10 minutes at least a half dozen times, it hasn't helped. I pull codes, random misfires and misfires in 1,2,3,4. Well no crap, I didn't need a code reader to tell me it was missing. The gas is very low, gas light is on. I add 5 gallons of gas and a fuel treatment. Run it at 3k for about 5 minutes, runs the same. Air filter is clean, practically new. I pull plugs and coils, plugs don't look great and 1 coil has what looks to me like overheating, possible arcing on the boot. I replace all 4 plugs, NGK Iridium and 1 new NGK coil. Car still runs the same. I decide to take it on the road and try to just hammer on it, maybe sitting 2 months it got tired and just needs brought back to life. Just kidding but I figured it can't hurt. I play with the throttle to get it moving, I almost have to neutral drop it from 2k just to make sure it doesn't die. I pull onto the road, head up a decent incline and there is nothing. Absolutely nothing, the car can not handle any kind of load. I put it in neutral, drift back into the parking lot. I go the other direction, total flat road and I can get it going. It will accelerate but not like it did in the past. It tops at 4k rpms and just kinda hits a wall. I sputter back to the shop, and when I come to a stop it just dies. I connect an Autel to read more out of it. Absolutely no codes other than misfire. Status requests seem good except it says idle learn is not complete. I'm thinking it will not complete with the misfire going on. I didn't have the correct connection to measure fuel pressure but I did pull the quick disconnect, got a nice hit of pressurized gas so I'm going to say its good. Plus, once it was moving, it ran pretty hard on the test drive so I don't think its fuel delivery. I did not pull the injectors to look at the spray pattern but I did verify they are clicking.
So here I am, car ran like a dream, I park it for 3 months and it runs like crap. I've read that sometimes the idle learn doesn't work and the TPS needs reset but, I'm not sure that's it. It does idle eventually, there is no high idle, no searching idle. It seems to me to be a air fuel mixture issue. As I said, I know some stuff but this is not my area of expertise. What's really getting to me is it happened by just sitting...so I keep thinking some kind of memory loss due to the dead battery. Maybe I am way off and you can tell me that, I don't care, I just want to get it running for my daughter.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

You parked a car for 3 months out in the elements & you expect it to run like a champ the moment you turn the key?
3 months is a long time - gasoline can go bad, rats can make nests & chew through wires, things can corrode, etc.
-Check for vacuum leaks.
-Get a new battery. You might have a cell or a few down if you were at 2 volts to start with.
-Injectors could be clogged, which if they are you should be able to tell by looking at the spark plugs.

No, I never expected it to run like a champ at the turn of the key. That's why I've been messing with it for a week now. I tried to include everything I have done but I did forget a few things. I did first check for any rodent damage since that is big in our area but I found no issues from that. After replacing the intake boot I smoke tested the intake and crank case with a Vac-u-Tech to search for leaks and found nothing. The battery I feel is OK, after charging I performed a battery test with a Midtronics and found no bad cells. I ran a load test with an old school VAT40 which it passed with flying colors which surprised me. It also had a static charge of 12.8v after sitting over a weekend. The plugs I replaced had good color, good burn patterns. I have not checked the new ones yet. After adding new gas and a fuel treatment the car sat at idle for over 30 minutes, hoping to burn off whatever was left in the fuel lines. My next step was to remove the injectors, clean them out and try again. I was also going to clean out the throttle body and IAC if its possible. I know some cars do not respond well to using carb cleaner. Any recommendations on that?

Have you checked/cleaned MAF sensor? After working through fuel and air system, it's worth a look at your exhaust system, in case rodents clogged the exhaust somehow.

Disconnect MAF sensor, then start the engine and see if it remains running on its own.

I take it that you purged all old gas out.
