Okay well i want to replace the factory speakers in my Accord.

Im thinking of these for the door:

My brother and dad keep telling me that i wont notice a difference at all by installing these speakers because i need an amp etc etc.
But im not looking to blast my music or boom the neighborhood. i just want better sounding music in my car.
So with that said, is what they said true? Will i not notice a difference in audio quality?

I cant really afford an amp or subwoofer, just the speakers.
I dont have an aftermarket stereo installed, and the speakers sensitivity is quiet high so i figured these would work fine.
I have no experience with car audio so i came here for help hoping someone that knows car audio can help.


One more stupid question: If I end up purchasing speakers, will 6 1/2inch fit in the front doors? If so, will i still be able to use the factory speaker grills?

Yes, you will notice a difference just swapping speakers. The factory speakers are pitiful, though you will notice a larger difference if you do everything, amp speakers, etc. The front speakers you can fit a 6 1/2, I have a 6 1/2 component setup in the front and swapped out the tweeters, the rears are 6x9's like you've found. Hope this helps

Cool, do i have to do anything special if i install 6 1/2 inch in the doors instead of the 5s ? Does it really matter what size goes in the front, sound wise?

Yes. They will make a difference. Just make sure they fit. The crutchfield website is very good for figuring that out. I would also recommend a component setup for the front.

Crutchfield will send you the Metra S-6600 adapters for the front speakers. THEY DO NOT WORK. You need the Metra 82-7803.

They are the only ones that fit properly. Accept no substitutes. With the right adapter rings the front speakers are easy. I'd also recommend you run to Harbor Freight and grab their interior pry tool kits. They're cheap and you are much less likely to tear stuff up with them.

I swapped out my speakers Alpine Type S all around 6 1/2 front and 6x9 rear,
They sound great and much better than stock.

Those look very promising. Didn't see them when I did mine in August

When I took the factory 6x9's out, it was pitiful how small the magnets were.

I put the same 6x9 Alpines in the rear (good choice), and it only makes me hate the front speakers that much more. How difficult was it to swap out the fronts (if you did it yourself)? The rears were quite easy to swap out. I was under the impression that changing the fronts require you to take the door apart.
