Hello Gurus,

I watched the RPM is suddenly dropped when the transmission is changed from 4th to 5th. The drop was around 1,000 rpm and I'm worrying if it is too much. (8 or 9 out of 10 times).

Is it normal behavior? The mileage is around 3,500 and it's 8-th generation accord 2.4L model.

Thanks in advance.

There is a torque converting lock up clutch feature that almost feels like the 6th gear / speed.
And yes it is normal.

I've been questioning the same thing but most of it is between 2nd and 3rd gear for me. It would go down below 1000 and jump back up to 1200, and sometimes it will do it when I'm doing 60+ when I let go of the gas after a sudden acceleration. I got a couple of suggestions from friends including a sticky tacho and dirty ATF filter so I took the car to two dealers, they said it was normal, and I changed the external ATF filter, which I did, plus changing the ATF and the engine oil since they were due. The car felt better after that but still sometimes does it here and there.
