I found a few threads - 'door panel removal' - I added 'rear' since the other threads didn't seem to match, exactly, what the issue is with my car plus it's the rear door. (Don't think it matters but anyway...).
The problem is, I discovered that the door won't open from the inside. It locks and unlocks but it's not working from the inside - meaning if you are inside, whether the door is locked or unlocked, it won't open. It opens fine from the outside and if you lock the doors, it won't open. If it's unlocked, you can open the door from the outside, normally.
So, do you know what's wrong? I read that a plastic part can break or is it that the cable falls out/off the plastic part? I'm not sure but it has to do with the cable, right?
If I remove the door panel, I should spot, immediately, what's wrong? There's a chance I just have to move the cable around into place? If there's a broken part, I either need a cable or the plastic part? Where do I get parts? Do recyclers carry those parts?
I watched some youtube videos of removing the panel. They seem like the type of videos where it looks easy enough but when you actually do it, it's not quite so easy.
I should buy a trim removal tool on amazon or ebay. I think I need the plastic tool that looks like a 'bent fork' and I need a phillips screwdriver for a few screws - what bit size though?
If you can offer me any advice or instructions - 'would appreciate it.
I am also looking at replacing some parts eventually - the sunvisor makes a really sharp, annoying snapping sound when I move it. It seems to be a common problem/issue with these Hondas - the fix looks like another project. I am wondering if I can just buy a new sun visor at a recycler/junkyard. They're cheap there if they have them. I also want to get an interior door handle for the drivers' side - the chrome peeled off and it has sharp edges now - I cut myself a while back and I knew it was stupid to not deal with it. I have since, used duct tape and covered that part up. It looks ghetto now but if I can get one at a wrecker's, they are also pretty cheap. I also want to get a shifter knob and planned to replace the current one when I bought my car. It is pretty rough looking - it looks really used and scuffed up.
Wow, I didn't mean to have such a long post. I hope you got all the way through, to the end. ;-)
'Appreciate any replies and advice. TIA.
