I have been looking around to find a rear air diffusor for my 99 Accord and have not been able to locate one. Do they even make one for the 6th gen?

i think think they make them at all, i think there was someone modifying it to fit on our cars but dont remember how it turnd out.

I think the 8 gen civic guys fit a s2000 diffuser on with little or no modification. Maybe see if it will work on your car?

I'm tempted to ask some of my Machinist friends if they can take the measurements I need and fabricate something thats removable and would still get the job done.

I think the under side of cars is the next big area for improvement on cars, for things like fuel economy, and performance. The question is can you make an under-car system that minimizes turbulence, but doesn't hold too much heat in (from the exhaust system, brakes, etc), and dos not get ripped off, going over speed bumps and such (the reason I suspect we don't see this much on street cars).

Back on the subject (kinda):
I challenge all of you to go crawl under the rear of your car, and ask your self, is this aerodynamic. Especially right between the gas tank, rear sheet metal, and the bumper cover, it looks honorable!!!! There is another bad spot is near the rear suspension and the gas tank.

Besides looking "Cool," I suspect, fuel economy improvements, could be realized with a rear diffuser...

if made from an appropriate material, it should be able to dissipate heat and give the aerodynamics desired. just look at the one with the subaru wrx.

OK, so I found a front diffuser on a british website but, it is for the Accord CL1. Is that the same basic car as ours or are there differences in the body structure? Im still looking for a rear one though.

First saw one a few months ago when my neighbor was showing me his mid-90's Ferrari. It has a full diffuser like the red one in the pics above.

OK....NOW I get the picture....literally.

You mean a full-body underpanel...enclosing the bottom of the car, bumper to bumper.

Benefits: Improved aerodynamics, additional protection to the underside, and cleanliness. Disadvantages: Cost and component access difficulty, for service. Also a possible fire hazard, depending upon material(s) used and proximity to exhaust system.

While desirable for an ultra-high-performance car, I think it would be rather impractical for a "Grocery Getter."

i thought that the UK's "honda accords" are the same as our Acura TLs? :dunno:

robert,
the rear diffuser is just the rear part of the the whole underside you see on the ferarri i posted earlier in this thread. look at the subaru wrx to get an idea of just the rear diffuser in the same set of pictures i posted.

I closely-inspected all the photographs posted. The front of the Gen Six car already comes equipped with an extended, integrated lower splash shield and fender liners. Adding a "rear diffuser" MIGHT provide some benefit (to me, personally) at speeds above 100 mph. Aside from that, it would just be "Eye Candy." And I am NOT prone to lie on my back, admiring the underside of my car. :D

you wouldn't need to. a good portion of the rear diffuser could be seen from the rear of the car ;)

The 2001-2002 Coupe comes OEM-fitted with a rear, lower "air spoiler" which attaches to the the underside of the bumper cover. It's primary function is aesthetic, to accentuate separation of the exhaust (muffler tips). It especially distinguishes the V6 car. That is sufficient "decorum" for me. Further "embellishment" would serve me NO useful purpose. :)

As seen in the pics, the defuser covers the bumpy bottom area near the gas tank all the way to the lower bumper. Looks cool and dose something - that is really cool...
