50,000 miles, I notice a shudder in the pedal especially going down a long steep grade.

Indy garage says I need new brakes and rotors. $500 parts and labor.

Dealer says $630 parts and labor.

Does this seem about right, rears shot at 50k miles? And the price?

Thanks. I am in Connecticut if that matters.

i thinks it’s way too much, for that price I can find a shop near my house to do a complete brake job on my car for that price, but than again I feel every place charges way too much since I do my own repairs, I did a complete brake job on my car and the parts alone was only 250.00. some may disagree with me. Good luck

YES! Have a "mountain" I cross over at least 2x day, 500' elevation rise, 2 miles up and 2 miles down.

Steep enough that there's a runaway truck ramp
I also live in CT and have a 700’ elevation change everyday on my way to and from work. I’m surprised at 50K you’re experiencing this though. I only have 17K on my HAH right now so can’t compare exactly but my previous car was a HCH and with the same commute it didn’t experience it’s first brake job till after 100K, and that was the fronts. To be honest I think my rears are still original at over 200K and the Civic’s regen is significantly less than the accord for downhill driving. Either way, based on your description it does sound like you need a new set on the rear. And as far as prices go for CT, that sounds a bit on the high side but not by much.
