So i understand that i have the premium system with crossovers in the back of the head unit. my question is that if i buy a pair of 6.5" components (nothing too fancy, just better than stock, maybe Alpine type S) can i just use the factory crossovers with the aftermarket speakers? just drop speakers in the factory holes and connect existing wires. i really dont want to have to run new wiring thru the door jams. lover end components just use a simple in line crossover network anyway.

You could probably use the component speakers with the factory crossovers, but you will probably be better off using the aftermarket crossovers since they were specifically designed for the speaker. You would wire them off the external amp, not from the head unit since you have the premium stereo.
