Royal Purple 0w20

Did a search and found nothing on Royal Purple 0w20 full synthetic oil. I have used in my spec Miata for years and never had a problem. I just have had good luck with it in my performance cars and did not want to switch brands unless I have to.

Just did my first oil change with Royal Purple and K&N HP 1010 filter.
Decent but expensive for what you get in my opinion.
I guess well lets see we spend 20-40k on our cars and then try to save $3 on a quart of oil. I am sure that just about all of the top of the line stuff is better than we need for these cars but I also remember seeing an episode of HP tv where a ls1 camaro made something like 7hp or so just from an oil change with RP.

Was RP a sponsor? Haven't watched that show in a while but it seems like they're always touted RP so it makes me wonder.

good point did not think about that looks like I have brain washed . But I have run in in my miata and have done 300 or so laps at wide open around Palm beach International raceway over revving and missing downshifts and so many mistakes when I was learning and the motor just took everything I could throw at it so I figured that in a street driven car it would be a cake walk for it.
It's overpriced, and not needed in our Hondas. There are hundreds of oil analysis reports all over the web for our cars using even the cheapest of oils that prove this. But because you've had good results with it (did you have bad result with M1 or Penz?, seriously bro) and you don't want to buy different brands, fork over the doh.
The UOAs on BITOG show that Royal Purple is a decent oil, but not the liquid gold the premium price wants it to seem like. Run any synthetic like M1, Pennzoil Platinum/Ultra or QSUD and your engine won't even know the difference.

Interesting read about Royal Purple's HP claim, against other oils:

Great find thanks looks like the placebo effect played a part in my theory . Looks like AMS oil is next on my short list lol

Have at it. Given, it's data being provided by Amsoil, but if the tests are performed to industry standards then it should be legit.

thanks for the link. I just read it but I am no engineer and looks like Ams signature oil and penzoil are the 2 best Royal purple and mobil 1 did not score very well

Keep in mind that any of the oils tested are probably "good enough" to use in your engine. It's just a matter about how anal you want to be :)

I'm an Amsoil SS 0W20 user myself. I switched off Redline after reading that PDF, because it seemed to be the worst while costing $10 / qt. I would probably use Pennzoil Ultra to save money if I had a choice, but they don't make it in 0W20.
wow , after reading for a couple of hours all I can say is AMS oil will be in all my cars starting with my accord .
