I bought myself some HIDs (please spare the glare speech), and I'm looking to see where some of you sedans secured your ballasts. I've heard of the velcro or 3M tape method, but not sure how well that holds up with the heat inside the engine bay. I'm trying to see if I can screw them down somewhere along with using velcro.

Do you guys have any good ideas for ballast placement? I've seen FollowingNFront, but he velcroed everything and I'd much rather bolt it down if I can. If it's not possible then I'll obviously go that route.

I used zip ties with mine. I can't remember where, but it was the only place under the light that it was possible to zip tie somethig too. They've been in for 6 months so far and haven't budged.

with a lightweight slim ballast such as the ones you have there the double sided foam tape will work very well. Just be sure both mounting surfaces are absolutely clean when applying it, and make sure both mounting surfaces are about room temperature so the adhesive sticks.

I figured that'd be the case but I wanted to be sure. You have no doubt been very helpful in this situation, I really appreciate the customer support, thanks!

Double sided foam tape to the headlight housing didn't hold for me - but putting it on the metal right below the headlight, laying vertical, with the DS tape, proved hard to take out later, and stuck well for me.

believe there's a diy on this, I used double sided 3m along with a screw through each and zipties! (really wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to deal with it again, still strong after about 8 months

Not just a regular velcro, but the one they use to place the device for toll gate on the front windshield. It resist to heat very well. I used it to install my parrot kit on the widshied. So far holding very well. http://cgi.ebay.com/I-PASS-IPASS-E-...7378148QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad5fff564#ht_1412wt_1167
It's made by 3M. I forgot the name but something like dual lock or something. You can find it from Target.

But to be safe, if your ballast has holes, I would use tapping screw to bolt it to the metal. That's what I did with my ballast.

They do have holes. I'm going to see if I can use the velcro since I do have an ez-pass and that velcro isn't coming off my windshield LOL. Thanks for the advice.

I bought the velcro for like $3 from the same seller. If I don't feel like the velcro is holding it sturdy enough, I'll screw it down, otherwise, velcro seems like the winner here.

Just to be safe, I would use those holes and zip ties to at least hang the ballast to somewhere in case velcro fails. At least it won't drop to the ground at worst case.

You read my mind. That's exactly my plan. Thanks for the help man!
