In my opinion, which means nothing, it's time to dump both of these project cars and find one that is worth your time & money. You are burying yourself in these projects, Dad's help or not. Time to move on. Use your brain, you have a good one gal.

Time to bail out on all these rescue missions and get a new(er) car. You have pissed off so much money it's not even funny. Do you have even ONE proper car out of the three you have purchased? Time to look hard in the mirror girl and think about all of this.

If we want to get technical, here are some rough numbers on what I've spent on all three combined.

$4,200 on repairs and maintenance

$2,500 on purchase, tax, title, registration and insurance

$1,900 on cosmetic things I didn't need, but wanted

Most of the repairs are from fixing/replacing things other people broke or damaged, haha. If the cars were in better shape that number would be much lower, but considering they're all over 14 years old, not too horrible, I think. No major failures, breakdowns, plague outbreaks or explosions that I didn't take measures to prevent.

You left out insurance for all of these rides. And at that....is it liability only or full coverage? What is the cost of that? Talented Dad or not one must realize when it is time to bail out. Just my thoughts.

I bow to you for being very careful with your money but I question when it is time to dump all of them and get something newer that hopefully has less or no problems. I do realize you are not made of money but there does come a time to rethink all of this. It seems to me that you are following in your father's footsteps rather than stepping out on your own.
I DO admire you whatever you do, you are one super lady. I'm just looking at the other possibilities, not knocking you at all.

Having said all that......I have a 2008 RAV4 V-6 bought new. It has, and still is, the biggest turd I've ever purchased. Problem after problem after problem and the recalls never end. Still a new one as of now. Sometimes no matter what you do it turns to caca.
Such is life.
