Hey Everyone, this is my first post! I recently got myself a 2006 v6 6-speed accord coupe and am ready for my first mod... new speakers.

I went to an audio store today and found a set that I really like, but when I mentioned that I was probably going to buy them off amazon because there almost half price he immediately started to talk about the speaker "stock rating". He told me speakers from amazon are typically "C stock or D stock". He explained that D stock speakers don't meet the strict standards of an "A stock" speaker, which is what authorized resellers sell... Is this true???

He's talking crap. However! On like other companies JLAudio only has a handful of authorized online dealers. What that means is if you have a problem with the speakers they won't warranty it unless it comes from one of those dealers. That may be important to you, especially if you're dealing with some discounts-r-us store with poor customer service

I'm not too worried about a warranty, usually if my electronics break its because there DOA or die during break in... after that they seem to last! The dealer on Amazon is part of there "a-z program" so it has a 30 day return policy... Plus there much cheaper

They are still the best shop around so I plan on having them installing a 4 channel amp and wiring up 1 set of components to the front doors, also wiring the rear speakers.. They want 240 for everything

Crutchfield is pretty good and they are a dealer for everything. Going to the store is nice to get a feel of what you want to order, but I just order off ebay. Theres tons of sellers that have actual stores in cali/tri-state area that give you great deals especially if you buy multiple things.

Speaker install is really easy and it's pretty good if they are willing to install whatever you bring them, but watch out for hidden cost...

I would recommend SonicElectronix.com. Their eBay Store also offers free shipping on most items. I would avoid that shop you went to since he already gave you a load of bullshit about speakers sold from Amazon and other online outlets. He obviously wants you to buy from him, so he can mark up the price compared to what you can get elsewhere.

I really want to hear how Infinity Kappa's sound before I buy, but I haven't been able to find a store that has them on display . I've heard enough good things about them, and Crutchfield recommended the 6x9's to me because they have strong bass when powered by an amp. Anyone tried out Infinity Kappa's before? I'd like to know what you think of them!

I prefer to stay away from ebay... ive heard too many horror stories! Sonicelectronix has some pretty damn good deals, but the same speakers are cheaper at Amazon.

Yeah I got the Kappas. Came with the car amped up. I have Kappas in the front, rear, and some kind of tweeters, all running off a JBL 75W x 4 channel amp. They get loud enough, crisp, and clean. Crutchfield's a good website to order from. You can order their catalog for free, so that you can look at stuff when you aren't around a computer. I'd also recommend woofersetc.com. They have a huge selection and always have some kind of discount going on for their products.

Install is $240 + $80?? for wiring

Grand total = $684.30 More than half what the audio shop wanted to charge me. They wanted $1500 for everything.

Is there anything additional I may need? I'm going to keep the stock deck, and I want to hear how this setup sounds before I decide if I need a sub or not.

This isn't going to happen for a few months sadly, but good news is my 06 6-6 only has 6,800 miles on it
