Hopefully the heads up will make others aware as I had no clue this sort of thing happens until it happened to me. All 4 rims were stolen off my '15 coupe in the middle of the night while on a road trip in Chicago. It was parked in a nice neighborhood with plenty of other nice cars around and in a relatively high traffic area. They hit another coupe on the street as well. I was informed that the 18" OEM rims are very popular for thieves. Cost to replace rims, tires, stems, alignment and tow is at $4500. The stepping stones they propped it up on damaged the body. Estimates there are an additional $1500.

Give me some steel wheels and hub caps please. The frustration of waiting 4 days to get my car fixed and back on the road isn't worth it.

Really sorry and feel your pain. There's not much you can do now, but deal with insurance, get it fixed, and move on.

Just wondering if your wheels came with wheel locks...

That sucks, I didn't realize stock wheels were such a hot item. Did you have wheel locks on them?

Sorry to hear....

Which neighborhood in Chicago (near which large intersection)?

Wheel theft is a big problem in Chicago....16" Honda Fit wheels and the new Accord Sport wheels were the number 1 and 2 stolen wheels in Chicago in 2013 and 2014.

What is that pink writing on your car?

Sorry, man.

Can I ask what all the writing on the car is for?

Jay

Chicago, New York, and other north east cities seem to be big hot spots for stolen car parts. I'd bet those guys are pros and we're just riding around looking for targets. Wheel locks would not have slowed them down. I'd probably just take the insurance money and get some aftermarket wheels for half the price, or buy a set used if you found some quick.

^ Its reported damage by the owner. The pink will come off.

OP sorry to hear this..stinks.
That part I understand.

Usually I only see markings like that after the adjuster looks at the vehicle.

Sorry that you had to deal with this crap. Those Sports and Coupes and now Tourings are definite targets for wheel thefts, Honda made them too gorgeous.

Someone in the Twin Cities posted up a set of OEM wheels and tires for $1800 this past weekend, makes me wonder if those were stolen.....

That stinks man, atleast it was just things and not your life that was stolen. Chicago had 468 murders in 2015. Maybe don't go there.
Solid advice. Id avoid that place if it was possible.

Oh man, that bites.

Hope it works out as well as possible.

A few years ago a dealer in Texas had thrives roll through in the middle of the night and take the wheels of dozens of new silverado's. Police were amazed, it had to be pros with equipment, not sure if they ever caught the guys.

Wheels don't get stolen much in neighborhood where I live and the neighboring towns. Thives enjoy living too much. In fact I think there has been maybe one break-in in my neighborhood in its 15 years of existing. I think criminals aroud here know if the owner isn't home to shoot you the neighbor will

Dang, that sucks and that's not even too far from me. It's always in the back of mind when I have mine on. Thanks to the beautiful roads around here I have noticeable damage on 3 out of 4 of the 18" wheels, with only about 20k miles on them. Hopefully they'll notice them when they try to take mine and say it's not worth it. I have the wheel locks too, but I've read that there are about 5 master keys for them so it's not exactly hard to take off.

Thanks! I didn't have locking lugs but do now. I'm also planning on buying a security system with tilt and proximity sensors. Lesson learned: Don't leave Kentucky. lol.

Would wheel locks have prevented this?
I hope so.
If not prevented at least make them think twice or move on to the next honda with no wheel locks. Not the factory locks though. Get yourself a set of gorilla acorn wheel locks with the spinning outer sleeve or the gorilla x2 wheel locks. These locks prevent a thief from banging on a smaller socket to twist off unlike the factory lug lock. I have 2 on each wheel on my '16 sport. I also have a viper alarm with tilt sensors. Once my car gets jacked up I'll get a loud alert on my phone.

Gorilla Acorn wheel locks with spinning outer sleeve. Highly recommended.

Gorilla X2 wheel locks.

This is not the right wheel lock! Honda uses a ball pattern on the OEM rims, so acorn will not fit correctly.

This is the one I recommend getting:
