I've noticed this on some other hondas and it's really bugging me, whenever I hit a bump I hear a THUMP..Does it with both left and right sides and sounds like somethings loose (sloppy), I've heard and it seems like it's the front struts. Is this a common thing? If I need to change them what's a good aftermarket brand for a nice ride? I have some rims going on and might even go for coilovers to lower it a hair for the right price...Anyone have this problem before? Any comments are welcome.

End-links and sway bar bushings.

I had this problem on my 1998 Accord LX sedan. After reading about it on this and other forums i suggested it to both my Honda dealer and the Honda specialist I normally take my car to. Both of them believed that it was a strut problem instead. I had all four struts replaced (they needed it anyway according to the shops) and that didn't take care of the sound. I finally just told the Honda specialist to do it anyway. Noise is gone.

It was a relatively cheap fix (a couple hundred dollars if I remember correctly) but the shop had to cut the end links off because of rust which added a bit to the labor.

Could be plenty of things. Sway links (as mentioned), tie rods, struts, mounts (if there bad enuf).. blah blah. If you shake the wheel left and right can you hear a thud sound. As if there's play in the part that moves the tire: check tie rods...for struts I can say on a friends car if you stood on the door sill and rocked the car left to right you could hear it was the struts (easy way to tell)

I'll try checking all those, I did check everything I could including the control arm bushings when I did the wheel bearings and brakes all around...But will check again...I heard the same sound on my ex friends mach 1 when she got coilovers and caster camber kit on it and it was because of a plate from the caster camber kit that connected to the strut so figured it could be the same problem.

Does everyone use stock replacement parts? or aftermarket like Energy Suspension for bushings and whatnot?

my control arm bushings sounded like creaking floorboards when i replaced them lol.. over bumps and hard braking. and im pretty sure with polyurethane bushings they need to be lubed over time or they squeak. im prretty sure ive seen that issue lingering around here.

The same thing happened to my car when I first got it. I found out it was a bad lower ball joint and the end links were bad. I replaced it and it's been fine.
