is it really limited to 130mph? how fast have you gotten yours up to? i have done 125 w/ mine but it felt like it still had a lot more - not just 5 mph

Car and Driver:

Top speed (drag limited): 135 mph

I think you have to realize that at 100+ MPH, it takes an incredible amount of power to gain speed. Also realize 6th gear is really tall. I've never driven a AV6MT though.

I saw a list of supercars with HP's and top speeds listed, and the general trend was that after 150MPH, you need an extra 100HP for each extra 10MPH, which is crazy.

If its 100hp for every 10mph after 150mph, what does the car's horsepower have to be before hitting 150mph that it would need that much additional hp per 10mph? Ive gotten my 2003 I-4 sedan up to 130mph a little under a 2 mile stretch and then didnt have much else. A v6 with a 6spd tranny should definitely be able to hit 150mph especially with the manual transmission and with it being a coupe~ lighter.

Drag
Corvette C5 Coupe (Targa) 345HP 172MPH
Corvette C5 Z06 Hardtop (385HP) 171MPH - hardtop leads to increased aerodynamic drag
Corvette C5 Z06 Hardtop (405HP) 174MPH

First Gen Viper RT/10 405HP 164MPH
97 Viper GTS Coupe 450HP - 186MPH (better aerodynamics)

Corvette C5 Z06 (385HP version) 171MPH
Ford SVT Lightning (380HP) 146MPH

Life after 150MPH
C5 Coupe vs Viper GTS
345HP 172MPH vs. 450HP(+105HP) 186MPH(+14MPH)

550 Maranello vs. 575M (virtually the same body)
485HP 199MPH vs. 515HP (+30HP) 202MPH (+3MPH)

575M vs. Bugatti Veyron (16 cylinder)
515HP 202MPH vs. 987HP (+472HP) 252MPH (+50MPH)

You don't realize that drag does not increase in a linear fashion. If you double your speed from 30 to 60, you quadruple the amount of drag on the car. After that, drag is just crazy strong. It's most noticeable on bigger SUV's/trucks where they will accelerate fine up to 70-80, and then you hit a brick wall. But don't be fooled, it's the same for anything that cuts a hole in the atmosphere, doesn't matter if it says Accord or Aston Martin.

Your LX gets 130, sure, but did you do it on radar? Did you factor in speedometer error, which could well be +10MPH at that speed? Did you realize that 6-speed's run 17" wheels, meaning more rotating weight to turn? The coupe is not lighter by much, and in any case, body weight doesn't have much to do with top speed (except in extreme cases such as 5000lbs w/ 100HP)...only rotating weight. Did you take into account that their 6th gear is extremely tall (~2000RPM @ 60MPH according to Motor Trend) and 5th might top out at 110-120? (Actually I doubt that. More likely both 5th and 6th are really tall and the car just doesn't have guts to pull past 140).

And if you ever hear anybody say "yes I went 150 in my 6-speed coupe today," ask them if they were reading the speedometer. If they were, you know that they were going much slower than they thought because of speedometer error.

Also realize the cars listed above have gobs of torque - much more than an Accord could hope for. Also, top speed is achieved in 5th gear on the C5, not 6th. They also probably have less frontal area than the Accord.

weve had this argument on diff boards everywhere. my personal opinion is that the top speed on the accords 6spd is limited around about 137mph.

ive taken my 6spd to 135 and didnt feel it stopping or anything, i just let off. and that was bout it but i think people claim to go faster...but i dont believe it one bit.

one guy i know took his accord to germany (on the autobahn) and said no matter how hard he tries cannot get it above 137 mph.

Would you agree with NAVI speedometer, the one that is in hidden menu ? It should be accurate , right ? I havent gone faster than 120 but back than I didnt know about hidden menu speedomoter. I will check once I got chance, I am wonder if anyone have done it so far.

I am not sure how the NAVI speedo works. If it were based on satellite positioning, I would think it would be more trustworthy.
