The 2.0T, and most any Accord for that matter, are selling at big markups. I traded my '21 Sport 2.0T about a month ago, and thought the dealer would certainly sell it at auction, but they didn't. They cleaned it up real nice and it's now listed for sale on their lot at $36,500. I'm a little sorry I got rid of the car, as I miss it's size. When I saw it there I got a little nostalgic.

Crazy since my 2019 2.0T Sport had a new sticker price of $32.5k CAD (~$26k USD). $36k USD is used S4 money lol

Yep- depending on your local market... that's just the reality of the industry right now.

With the limited inventory- slightly used cars are going for big bucks- often over original MSRP for models that are in higher demand.

Accord inventory has been pretty limited in most areas of the country over the past few months- so that creates a situation where dealers can charge more for slightly used Accords.

These prices will remain high as long as people continue to be willing to pay... Lack of supply has created quite a seller's market... giving dealerships the upper hand... although it has also given people trading in slightly used cars that are desirable an upper hand too.

I was able to trade in my 2019 Accord Sport 2.0t for a 2021 Accord Touring and only lost $500 on the 2019. I drove that 2021 Accord Touring for a year and was able to sell it for a profit.

I saw a Camry for sale with 752 miles on it for as much as paid after tax, title and everything. I made $7500 on my Accord EX-L hybrid in the 11 months I had it. It's crazy that a vehicle is an appreciating asset nowadays.

There's a lot of profit to be made by getting used cars in the door and onto the used car lot. As the original poster pointed out, they are listing that Accord for $5000 more than what they paid for it as a trade in. Even if they have to negotiate the car down to $36k... they will still make a nice profit off of it... and my guess is that it won't last long. Any Accord with the 2.0t engine is flying off the shelves right now... My local dealer had a 2021 Touring... had it listed for $42k and it was gone within a week. Right now they have a 2019 Touring 2.0t listed for $40,277. I'd be surprised if it was still available at the end of the week. An almost four year-old Accord still valued at $3000 more than its original MSRP.

A different dealer has a 2018 LX available with 45,000 miles and it's listed for $25,995. Pretty insane for a five year-old base Accord with no remaining factory warranty.... $1500 more than its original MSRP back in 2018... and in 2018 it was possible to get an Accord for a nice discount off of MSRP...

Reason for these crazy prices: Neither dealer has a single new Accord available. None on the lot... none listed as 'in transit'.

This all reminds me how lucky I was to be buying a car when I did. It was very early in the pandemic and people had no idea how or where the economy was going. I was able to buy my 2020 EXL 2.0 for just under 30k. Seeing where the car market is now makes it seem like one hell of a deal.

In late January of 2020, I purchased a cpo 2018 1.5T Touring. It had about 17750 miles on it. My out the door price including extended warranty was like 30750. I got a great deal on my trade too.

I picked up my 1.5 manual sport for about 25k OTD in december 2019. I vaguely remember seeing similar vehicles selling/trading for mid 30s a year later

My local dealer has a couple 2019s, one EXL 2.0 and a Touring 2.0, both around 45k miles, and priced about 90% of their brand new MSRP. That's just crazy and may be why they've been on the lot for several weeks.

I had the same experience. I bought my 2020 Sport 1.5 on August 11, 2020 under MSRP for $26,500 and later traded it in May of this year for $29,400.

You got a decent price because of the shortage of computer chips. The pandemic, and any alleged fears for the economy, had nothing whatsoever to do with it.

Sorry I misspoke. What I meant to say is you got a good price because you bought before the chip shortage reduced supply, thus driving up prices. I was a victim of this, only because I was foolish enough to think I was a better driver than I turned out to be, and had to buy a car at the convenience of the market, instead of my own!
I'd hate to be forced to embarrass myself by admitting how much I had to pay.

I had 16 Lease payments left on my 19 Accord Sport 2.0T. The dealership just told me to hand them the keys and walk away, no strings attached. So, that's what I did . And no, I didn't have to buy a new vehicle. That was a year ago.
