2014 EXL 6cyl.. 74K mi

2 weeks ago, my passenger low beam cut out. then I slapped the headlight covering ala the Fonz'... and like magic it started working!!

now I noticed the driver-side low beam quit.

Is it an electrical issue? fuse? what is the next step in troubleshooting?

thank you in advance

If they're the original bulbs, they're probably just burnt out. I replaced my original bulbs with some Philips Xtreme Vision +100's and both of them burned out within 2 weeks of each other after just 18 months.

When an incandescent/halogen bulb "burns out", the filament either splits or separates from the filament supports. If the filament doesn't split and also fails to completely separate from the filament support wires, it can sometimes be "slapped" back in place and continue working for a short period of time. I haven't seen this happen firsthand with a headlight bulb, but I have seen it happen with incandescent brake light bulbs before.

Just replace both low beam bulbs and you should be good to go.
