I'm just throwing this out there, not sure if people are aware or thought of doing this. I recently bought an aftermarket deck, an Alpine x305s. I purposely bought a deck without a CD player even though I do listen to CDs. I used the Schoshe lower dash kit which left me with my aftermarket deck and factory deck in the dash. I used a line out converter (LOC) attached to the front speaker output from the factory deck and ran it into the aux in on the Alpine. Now my 6 disc changer plays through my aftermarket deck. The biggest reason I did the install this way is I really did not want a "dead" non functional radio in my dash.

No pics of the install. If I remember I'll post pics of decks tomorrow. Forgot to mention I also installed a steering wheel interface to controls the Alpine instead of the factory deck. Everything works together very well.

 nice. i see paperboy has a tutorial on it but i have a quick question for u.

Do you get any hissing/engine whine?
Also, did u have to re-buy the harness for the stock headunit?
I use my AUX connection on my aftermarket deck for my zune. can i have both hooked up?
Actually this install corrected my hissing. Prior to this I was using the factory deck with the JL Cleansweep and had some pretty bad hissing. No engine whine though. I originally did buy a reverse harness for the stock deck but it didn't have the wire for the security light. I was in kind of a rush so instead of buying another reverse harness and pinning the wire in I just hacked up the factory harness. I cringed as I was doing it. Big bowl of spaghetti behind my dash. I don't see why you couldn't use a "Y" adapter for the two different audio sources.
