Here we go again!! I live in a very hilly area and almost always park my car on a pretty steep incline overnight. Is it best to park with the front facing uphill or downhill?? I am not worried about the car slipping more about the fluids; such as oil. I know that the morning startup is what puts the most wear and tear on the engine. If the car is parked on a hill then isn't the oil collecting unevenly???

I know that if your low on gas, the engine should be facing downhill, that way the gas is flowing in that direction. As far as everything elese. I think Honda surely designed the Accord with hills in mind. And no fluids should be mixing unless you've got a leak or a blown head gasket. Don't forget to apply the parking brake before letting off the brake pedal. Your A/T will thank you!

mike,

for some reason, my car starts more quickly when facing uphill, not downhill..... the gauge reads lower when faicing downhill instead of up.....

Satanzerjekt can you post some pics of ypur car? I remember when I had a 24v 3.0L Alfa Romeo that I was told not to park with the nose down hill. Something about V6 engine...

[rebuttal]

nah, my car isn't THAT messed up :lmao:.... i have noticed that my gauge goes up when facing uphill, and the exact opposite is true when facing downhill.....

however, when my friend used to have an 87 civic hatchback, the opposite was true.... :dunno: i saw that as weird.....

[/end rebuttal]

It really depends on where in the tank the fuel guage is installed. If it's closer to the front of the car, then the dash fuel guage will read higher if you're facing downhill, etc... There will be a slight difference when your car is tilted to one side, too. More reason why fluid levels should be checked on level ground. :)
