I am to buy soon a 2008 EX-L sedan (4 cyl auto) and the seller just gave me the car's VIN. But he can't tell me for sure if the first digit is a "1" or a "I". Anyone knows?

VIN is 1(or i) followed by 4 letters, 5 numbers, 1 letter and 6 numbers.

It's a 1 as in assembled in the US.

For this reason, VINs don't include the letters I, Q, or O. So, if you see anything resembling those letters in a VIN, you can assume they are a 1 or a 0.
