Hey all, just found this website: Spring-Start.com

They sell kits to repair various K24 VTC actuators by selling you variants of the actuator retaining pin springs, the bit to remove the VTC actuator cover and instructions.

Apparently it works quite well and accounts for different variations of the actuator part numbers (R40, RAA, R5A, 5A2), so it can be used on different vehicles.

I've already ordered a kit and will post a DIY/results in this thread sometime later.

Hey everyone... as the title states, my 2010 Accord LX-S with 126K recently had catastrophic engine failure. There were bent and broken valves due to contact with the piston heads resulting from the timing chain jumping teeth which was ultimately a result of the bad VTC actuator. Car died...

Spring-start's stuff worked here. That, and replacing the cam chain tensioner totally eliminated my startup rattle.

2008? I don't know. It wasn't too difficult on my 2015.
