Except that you can fit your entire library of 300 disks onto a USB stick and plug that into newer cars.
And then you have to navigate through the files on the USB. A lot less convenient than plopping a disc in and just finding the track you want.

Cranked the idle fuel pressure up to the factory maximum of 65psi as a last resort to combat running out of fuel on the top end in the winter. No idea if it actually worked or not.
Started retune process with the new turbo and new fuel pressure. Running way too rich under WOT, leaving power on the table.

Bought a Timken rear wheel hub since the left side rear sounded like the bearing is going.

About a week ago my friend of the family who's a Acura/Honda tech installed a new windshield washer pump. When he removed the bumper he found a major league baseball jammed up in there. His price for parts was $40.00 Cdn, took about an hour and he did it for free out of the kindness of his heart. He's a good dude.

While on a drive yesterday, I connected to my OBD2 scanner for the first time in a while. Turns out the Car Scanner app has been updated quite a bit since the last time I used it, and it has a profile for 08-12 Accords that now lists support for doing stuff like ECM/PCM reset and an idle relearn. So my cheap little $30 scanner seems to be capable of a lot more than I thought.

It's a shame there's no profile for the 05-10 Odyssey as far as I can tell...

Checked the fluids on the 2008 and found the braking fluid was far too low. Son and I also both noticed braking power had been reduced. Suspecting a leak I checked all the calipers and found the right rear caliper leaking around the seal. Purchased a replacement from Autozone, We need to bleed it on Sunday. Going to do all 4 wheels.

Prior caliper was a cheap CCP (A-Premium ) brand brought from Amazon in June 2020. The left side, previously replaced lasted just 18 months. What a waste of money that purchase was.

Whilst I had the car jacked up I did a quick ATF D&F. ATF looked good.

Bought a Timken rear wheel hub since the left side rear sounded like the bearing is going.
Rotated the tires.
I was wrong, it was just tire noise. Inner edges on both rear tires are slightly feathered. Alignment is probably off. Rotated them to the front. Also had discount tire patch the nail puncture that required the spare.

On today's episode of: "I make parts never meant for this car fit", I used a Haas CNC to shave down the Speed Factory Racing Sandwich plate I bought a while back. The diameter was too large and wouldn't fit against the oil pan. Also, I give the O-ring side a step so that it'll clear the oil filter housing guard that I had already cut down previously for the Mishimoto sandwich plate.

Before:
Automotive lighting Hood Headlamp Alloy wheel Bumper

After:
Automotive tire Camera lens Wheel Plant Automotive design

Automotive tire Automotive lighting Automotive design Cameras & optics Camera lens

Automotive tire Hood Bumper Motor vehicle Automotive exterior

This one replaced the Mishimoto sandwich plate for turbo oil feed. The big difference here is that this sandwich plate uses fresh oil from the filtered side instead of the unfiltered side. Kinda hate that I didn't realize this product existed in the first place especially since the price difference between this and the Mishimoto one was only $20.

My old profile picture wasn't really growing on me. So I stole a nice looking photo from the Carvana listing to use as a new one. I do like having the full car in frame.

On our 2008, checked the brake fluid one week after replacing rear right caliper and it was low again. I found a fluid residue under the master cylinder on the steering boot. I believe the master cylinder probably has a leak. The master cylinder and brake booster are dry.

Ordered a Beck Arnley master cylinder made in Taiwan from Amazon. I have had a lot of good experiences w/ Beck Arnley parts.

At 232k miles and 16 years I figure it lasted long enough.

Got it smogged today, but had to go through the rigmarole of getting the cat ready for the emissions test because it wasn't when I first got there. That meant about 40 minutes driving on the outskirts of town at different speeds for different lengths as well as coasting. I had a OBD reader hooked up the whole time so I can see when the cat finally did show itself as ready.

I did as many of these procedures as I could:

Drive Cycle for the Honda/Acura Vehicle

  1. Start the motor and keep the car idle for 20 seconds. Don’t touch the accelerator.
  2. Rev the engine to 2000 RPM for 3 minutes. The temperature should be at 1/3 of the scale or higher.
  3. Idle for 20 seconds again.
  4. Go to a highway and drive between 50-60mph for 20 minutes. You should be in D or 5th gear. Don’t utilize cruise control. At some point in the journey, coast for 90 seconds (take your foot off the accelerator).
  5. Conduct city driving for 10 minutes, and during this time, perform some coasting.
  6. Run over 3 pedestrians in 2 minutes going exactly 73 mph.
  7. Once completed, let the vehicle turn off and sit for 30 minutes with the engine off.

At least it's not the EVAP monitor...that one takes forever.
