I'm at 1900 miles and still showing 90% oil life.

Granted I drive like a 200 year old man most of the time - but that seems too good to be true - no?

If you continue to drive "like a 200-year-old man" you'll find that the OLM will allow you to go 10k before it reaches 15%. Also, it will change to 80% at 2k. Adding frequent starts and stops (i.e., engine on-off, in other words) and/or a series of cold-weather starts will accelerate the algorithm.

Ah - good to know.

The cold weather is coming however I mostly drive it to and fro work so there aren't a lot of on/off cycles most days.

The Owner Manuel also recommends you change it in a year if the MM does not tell you based on your driving. I read somewhere that the one year limit is only for non synthetic oil. However, Honda's states Synthetic is to be treaded the same as non synthetic oil when changing the oil.

My MM when to 90% around 500 miles but I was doing a lot of short stop and go driving back then. I'm now around 1100 miles at it still at 90%.

do I have to change oil with percentage? Previously I have done oil change with mileage, i always put synthetic oil and change it around 55-5700

800 100%

That sound about right.

Personally, I don't find the MM to be reliable or useful. I always go with the mileage. Synthetic every 5k, or change twice a year regardless of miles. I think once a year is too long. Again, thats my personal preference.

Follow the MM if you get to 15% in less than a year. If a year comes around before 15, change it then.
so its 12 months or 15% watever comes first?

Yes, but you can have lower % as long as it is before 0 % and 1 year. I change my own oil and plan to take a short video of the mm and ometer each time I do.

i rem this happened to me long ago, lets say MM shows 5% ad when i check the oil with the stick it shows i still have pretty good oil cuz i dont drive a lot n stay in city so my 6000 miles for synthetic oil change comes like 7-8 months period n some times more so should I change the oil or wait until go to near 6K miles?

sorry for bugging questions

the next % after 5% is 0. Change it before 0. 15% is a good value.

I change mine myself. Most likely I will get the oil and filter around 20%. Most likely I'll change mine around 15% or a little lower for the first change. It depends what my total milage is and how much free time I think I will have. If it looks like I may not have time should I wait. I change it sooner. I don't plan to make it as low as I can.

9,823mi @ 5%. I'm doing it this weekend.

Jay

5981 @ 30%. Going back out of town in a few weeks, am getting it changed before I leave.
