40mph sustained winds on Saturday

I parked at a friend's house, so I could ride with them to an air show at the local base.

We were gone all day long. My friend gets a call from his neighbor about his carport blew over and landed on "the" black car. We just thought that it landed on their car. We all thought no big deal, maybe it was the roof of the carport that came off. I thought it was made of PVC, no big deal it will buff out. :dunno: Wrong.........

We get to their house and the whole thing was laying on top of my car. It wasn't PVC, it was aluminum. The wind was blowing on it all day. Banging and scratching. Every section of the car is dented and scratched except for my hood and the front bumper.
On a positive note: no glass was knocked out.

Now, I have to go get estimates for insurance. We don't know whether it goes on my auto insurance or their homeowner's.

I'll try to get some pics up later.

wow man that sucks ..i would have cried...hope u get her fixed up quick...

man.. that sucks! i would like to say i feel your pain but i cant.. cause its just soo much more painful if it acutally happens to your own car... well hopefully you can get it fixed up and it wont cost you too much

Homeowners should pick that one up, either thru you or your insurance (they go after them). Ask your insurance how they want to handle it; never heard of something like that before. And yes, it SUCKS. I wouldn't settle for any less than a full repaint job at a reputable place.

By the way, 40 mph winds is a normal day in this freaking town . Good luck man.

My friends talked with their insurance, and they are being very difficult. Somehow 30 days came into play.....I don't want to go 30 days with my car looking the way it does.

I called my insurance, and they don't want to pay for it. My insurance said that they will contact the homeowner's insurance if I want them to. I asked the question " what if homeowners will not pay?"

I'm not too pissed off about the car because I know it will get fixed. It's the nightmare of dealing with insurance is what I'm worried about.

One of the other will pay, so don't worry about it, but hopefully you took a picture of the carnage if the neighbor wants to weasel his way out of taking responsibility, but your friend's testimony should be enough to force them to pay. Your insurance for sure would cover it, but besides the deductible issue, your premiums could go up, even if not your fault and when they'd probably get reimbursed by the homeowner's insurance later on. It wasn't the case before, but I was stunned when my insurance went up for a $400 claim (hit-and-run on my parked car, after my $500 deductible), even when they said it wouldn't; I'd have paid it myself if I knew. Turns out now with any payout they can raise the freaking rates; creeps.

Anyway, I wouldn't do anything to your car until you have a settlement (letter), so the bill does not go to you. Look at the bright side man: at least you can keep using your car. Good luck.

These are mainly my passenger side shots. It was too sunny on the driver side. The pictures don't show the dents so well either.

same here, it was pouring rain and didnt notice that there was a rock that hit my windshield got a 3 to 4 inch of crack...i dont know what to do, for sure it will not be covered by insurance and it will be expensive to replace a new one. im pissed right now...

If you have full coverage, you very possibly have full glass coverage with no deductible. I've had a couple windshields replaced and a handful of chips repaired and it cost me nothing and didn't raise my rates. I just did a quote for a sedan windshield replacement from Safelite Auto Glass and it is only $230 plus tax for a new windshield, so even if your insurance doesn't cover it, it's not too expensive.
