I've had my 2021 HAH since October and have been really frustrated as it seems with most of the 10th gen users with 12th gen IPhones or newer, getting the wireless charging to work consistently is impossible.

I've noticed if I locate the phone in a particular location and it doesn't shift during driving that it will maintain charging, but not sure if this is consistent.

Going to try and 3D print an insert for that compartment that is custom fit to locate the phone where I think it needs to be and test it out....

wish me luck......

So just printed out the sample prototype. Checked it in the car (kinda hot in there right now...) and overall the fit is pretty good. I designed the phone pocket around my phone and it's protective case which adds about 2mm all the way around. I still need to do a little tweaking.

Dropped my phone in the slot and powered on the car and it immediately started charging. Left it there for about a minute before I couldn't take the heat anymore and it was still charging.

I'll do a driving test on the way home from work today (30 miles) and see if it maintains the charge for the whole ride and give an update. I'll make sure to take some sharp corners to make sure it stays put. I missed one detail which is to allow visibility to the blinking charging light on the charger surface in the console. I have to rely on the Honda's display unit to see if it is actively charging. Will tweak that detail if this works for a second print.

Still bullshit that Honda doesn't even do anything to get this resolved. They are going to blame Apple, but I can use my phone in other wireless chargers in cars with no issues. They even stopped putting TSBs on this.
Yeah, agreed. The one disappointment I’ve had since owning this vehicle. Wasn’t aware there were no more TSBs to address this.

Well, the good is I drove home and it worked without a flaw. I still need to resize the overall part as it’s a bit of a tight fit. Not sure I’ll bother with the viewing window as the display panel was enough to track. The bad was it barely crept up in charge during the drive as I was using CarPlay.
I’ll pay attention to the actual charge amount on the next drive.

Yup, the wireless Qi contact charger in our Accords is not high speed - maybe 5 watts - certainly not the 30+ that your phone can use. I assume you have wireless CarPlay. I missed that by 1 year with my 2020. I use a 12V outlet USB C adaptor for charging when I'm in a hurry and it is at least 3X faster than the built in Qi. I haven't had any real trouble with the phone sliding around because my iPhone 12 has mag safe which holds it on the charger - my best guess at least. The 12 probably wouldn't cost as much as a 3D printer. :)

@Idbiker - Keep an eye on heat because you have that "cover" over part of the charging area. It might concentrate heat under the phone and you don't want a cooked iPhone at dinnertime...

EDIT: Maybe you could put some stick-on rubber "bumpers" in the corners to raise the template up a bit so there's at least a little air flow to help dissipate heat?

Thanks for the feedback. I may be safe already. It’s not shown in the images, but the cover is hollow underneath so there would be airflow under the cover around the phone that can flow out the circular opening that surrounds the phone for easier phone grab. This hollow wasn’t intended for airflow as I hadn’t considered that, but to make space for those two side ribs in the console that I guess is intended to keep the phone from moving around too much. Just was easier to create a hollow space there that the ribs could nest under rather than trying to match the bottom of my cover to the ribs as well as rest of console if that makes sense.

This is an excellent looking solution for the problem! My Accord didn't come with a wireless charger, so I've been thinking about 3d printing an enclosure for the Apple MagSafe puck that would allow the wiring to wrap around underneath and for it to just peak out enough to charge. Now if only I knew how to design 3d printer files...

I tried using the MagSafe puck in the car after discovering the charging pad issue. It put out so little power that the battery drained while "charging." Switched to wired charging.

Were you using a high wattage USB C adapter? I haven't checked charging speed on my MagSafe puck but in theory it should outperform the wired charging that the accord is capable of with the USB A port.

Well, I haven't ridden my car in a week so no updates on my 3D print until this morning's ride to work. Overall was happy. It charged the whole ride and I started at 59% and ended the ride at 79% using carplay (listening to an audio book). The phone was a little warm when I took it out after the ride, but I don't think any warmer than when using a wireless charger at home. The total ride is about 50 minutes. Not crazy great charging, but at least keeping up with Carplay consumption. I've decided to make a few tweaks. One is for better fit, second change is to move the finger "holes" at the middle of the part, up closer to the speaker end of the phone since I seem to be trying to grab to pick the phone up in that area. Lastly, I've created a cutout for usb charging access in case i need a better charge for example if using Waze or some other intensive app.

Just checked--it's a 30w adapter. After I gave up on MagSafe, I have been using the wired USB-c to lightning cable plugged into the same adapter.

Wow! Would you consider shipping one of those if I covered the cost of shipping and materials?

Sorry, I have a feeling this violates the terms of this forum as a previous inquiry got deleted. Once I get the file finalized I’ll make it available for anyone to grab no charge.

Yeah, I don't bother with it. Having to plug in for Carplay/AA makes it redundant, and it's definitely no more than 10 watts. Super slow...
Plus, I need that space for storage often and don't want to forget to turn it off etc... Seems like an afterthought feature. Luckily my iPhone 11 is still in good shape.

So, just curious on other's take on the USB slot I created. It doesn't really help at all.... If the usb is connected to the phone and the phone is in the position it needs to be in for wireless charging, the usb sticks out too far making the phone end up floating above the console base and leaning on the adapter. I'm thinking of just killing that feature. Also, my "tweaking" of the overall shape to fit better into the console has a drawback. Before when it was slightly oversized, you could shove it into the console and it would stick in place. Now it slips out fairly easily and i've found it can slip out by accident....

I’m not 100% happy with it but maybe 95. Mostly the issue is the part loosely fits in the console so when you remove your phone it tends to tip the part up before it flips back down. Honestly it works for me and has been charging fine. Only one time for some reason did it do the blinking green orange and once I pulled the phone out and plopped it back in it continued to charge for the rest of the ride. I don’t expect at this point to make anymore improvements. I just need to see what works here for providing a link to download. Anyone know if a Dropbox link would work here?

Also, regarding materials, our printers at work only run PLA which is a similar material to styrene. It has a fairly low melting point and if you let this part sit on the seat for example in the sun in your car during the summer, it will deform. I’ve noticed that if placed in the console that it appears to be fine under these situations since it is supported by the console base. When you order your part through whichever service you choose, you may wish to run them with ABS material to avoid potential deformation. It’s about twice the cost though. I checked my part on the biggest 3D printer service and PLA is about $16 for the part and ABS is about double.
