Worst gas cap holder ever

I have never had trouble stowing the gas cap on a car while pumping gas before I got my 2013 Accord.
It takes a lot of fiddling to get it to stay in place on the door.
What were they thinking when they designed it?

To save time at the pumps, I like to remove the cap with my right hand and grab the pump handle with my left. It's hard because I'm not ambidextrous :(

Man, I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.
