During the day I have to park my car in a large open parking lot. Today I parked it in the same spot as I did yesterday but the OAT was 103 instead of 100 degrees. When I started the car the Camera Hot warning came on and the LDW and FCW turned off. When the AC cooled down the temperature the warning went out and everything worked normally.

Is it detrimental to the camera system having it overheat and shut down?

Has anyone else had this issue?

There is no shade and this is Texas and we are going to have more 100+ degree days this summer. What can I do to prevent this from happening? I do NOT have a reflective windshield sun shade but I am planning on purchasing one from the dealer to insure that the camera area is not being heated on the backside by the sun shield.

It's in the manual. Has happened to me twice already. It's fine.

It has hapoened to mine a couple of times. Talk about hot, come to FL and get in the car after a few hours.. I haven't seen any concerns with this message from Honda in the manual.
Of course it can make one wonder why they would notify us with a somewhat odd message if there should not be a concern. I would not worry.

Thanks for your reply. I think the warning is so you don't think the system has failed. I think I will park the car in the opposite direction so the afternoon sun will hit the rear window and the morning sun will hit the windshield. Also, I forgot to crack the window or the moon roof to allow the heat to escape.

Aftermarket window tinting and a proper sun screen for the windshield can help a little.

The car has window tint and the proper windshield sunscreen has a wide cut out for the camera area. Having the heat directly reflected onto the back of the camera is worse. I am going to pick up a sun shield at the dealer when I pick up my license plates.

so this happened to me today and I googled and found a page but this thread will not let me share that page with you. Here are the words that are in the address. Maybe if you Google these words you will find the same page I found.

Yes, it seems this had indeed happend a few times before

If you use a sunshade in the windshield, don't push it flush up against the back of the camera housing. Leave a gap so the shade doesn't touch the housing. I do that by not pushing the sun visors down all the so they let the shade sag a little in the middle.

Be sure to leave the windows open a little too, and if you have a moonroof, tilt it up and pull the slider almost completely forward, leaving a little gap so the hot air which rises can escape out the top. Obviously, that's not a good idea if it's going to rain...
