I think you just made a lot of peoples day! Good find.

I stickied this post. The good news is, like previous warranty extensions, you may be entitled to a refund if you previously paid for the repair.

See, they came through!! :D They're just slow. I don't think they're made as good as they used to be.... nothing is. But they do seem to make the effort to stand behind their product......eventually! We just want it yesterday!

3 years for THIS one! :D

Yeah, they sure don't make them the same, but those service bulletins seem to have gotten real popular from 96-forward on the Accords. Apparently my emissions system is all screwy  , so honda gave a 14/150k and a tune up, which suprisingly has nothing to do with tuning the car :lmao: . I'm not complaining though :).

Service Bulletin

Wow, timing is everything. I gave a co-worker information on the older TSB so he could talk to his Dealer (they had quoted a $1000 to replace the unit). When he called, he was told they could do something for him and offered to replace under Warranty. He has 93K on his 2004 Accord.Needless to say he was very happy. I first saw the TSB info on this Forum. Although I don't get here as often as before or chime in too much, this Forum is absolutely the best, and Princess you are absoluely the most helpful individual I have encountered on any Site.

I try. My point in being here is to share. Sometimes it IS helpful!

I honestly don't believe there's ever been a conspiracy with Hondas issues.... we just expect more than they can deliver sometimes. They've been fighting with the company that makes the head units & didn't get very far. So now they're dealing with them inhouse. :)

On the Honda employees site. :D

Married to a tech, we share our brain cell! Thanks to him I have access to the stuff that most people don't & I want to share it. Sometimes to help with repairs, scares & anger flares!

Sorry, I'm in a punchy mood..... it's Friday!!!

Thanks Princess!

I had contacted my dealer about 2 years ago @ 46K and was told I was out of warranty. Then I read your post about the 7 year 100K extension, by then I had 116K on my 03 Accord. I went back to the dealer and explained what had happened that I came in 2 years earlier and was turned away.
After a few phone calls they waived the milage and fixed the problem!
Thanks

Dream come true!

My LCD screen works on the stereo, but none of the HVAC lights, or illuminated buttons AROUND the lcd screen work. It has been driving me nuts when it is dark, but I wasn't about to spend $500-$1000 for a new head unit. It was a 2004 I bought used in 2006 w/ 80k miles.

I just happened to look it up today to see if anyone else had the same problem. I was shocked when I saw the sticky thread w/ the warranty extension... why??? My car has 99,925 miles on it, and I drive about 100-150 miles a day!

Will drop it off at my Honda dealership monday morning!

As a side note: I'm a little concerned with the wording of the letter. The service manager letter says "for dark or dim LCD AND HVAC lights that do not lluminate". . The customer letter first says "for dark or drim LCD AND HVAC lights that do no illuminate", than later the instructions say LCD Dim / Dark OR HVAC lights not illuminating.

Right now the only thing that DOES illuminate is the screen, and the climate control dials. NO OTHER LIGHTS function (volume ring, hvac controls other than the dials, or any of the buttons around the screen).

Hopefully all will go well.

Thanks again,
Justin

Interesting...

My screen just went black tonight!
2004 with 42k.

We'll see what happens.
Ironically, I had received the letter about 2 days ago in the mail!
