Just skip all the vs Camry, vs Sonata, vs Passat, vs Mazda 6 crapola threads, (sure some of the other makes have made the list at one point or another, but none with the smashing record of the Accord)

Oh, by the way, the beloved TLX didn't make the list either.

just go with the real deal winner for the last 3000 consecutive years that this car keeps making the list......

Loving the Accord, but the Mazda 6 made that list for the past couple of years as well...

I agree with the Accord vs Sonata/Camry debate, but the Accord/Mazda 6 debate is more interesting...

Anyway, go Honda. Hope you can replicate your successful execution of the Accord to the rest of the Honda line. Looking at you Civic...

I stopped subscribing to Car and Driver when it seemed like they started to go too far off the reservation too often. I still respect their car chops though, despite their biases best shown in a letter they once published:

JOE: Who won the Car and Driver Camaro vs Mustang shootout?
MOE: The BMW just edged out the Honda.

the more i drive mine been in a lexus for last ten years an ls both of them, i am starting to agree the car in totality is a great machine, to average almost 31mpg driving like i stole it half the time if an amazing engineering feat,
still think honda should button down the ride a drop to make it even better,
but there formula seems to work for the masses
cheers

The piece on the Accord is unhelpful and uninformative at best. I don't feel offended that they didn't heap praise on it, but at least write something worth reading.

" those who ran a gantlet of salespeople and dealership-finance goons "

Yeah, that's what I hate about Honda dealerships - all those gantlets you have to deal with.

I love mah Accord. I look forward to years of trouble free ownership. I only regret not getting a 6MT, but....also....maybe not really. Maybe.
The 6 MT really is sweet. I'm finding it likes quick shifts. It's effortless. I do wait though for the RPMs to drop most of the time so as not to harsh on the clutch too much.

From Car & Driver: "These cars have the ability to transcend, to fade from attention on dull drives and then reappear when you’re fully engaged."
--True. There's a fun factor built in, because of the tight suspension, steering, and the way it hugs the road. Nice to have that option. Who needs the Mazda 6? The Accord is already Zoom Zoom.

And also from the C&D article" "dealership-finance goons." Haha... yes they are, in my experience.

I am a proud to own my Accord. Owning something that tops the midsize class in room, reliability, performance, and mileage makes the experience more worthwhile.

Only thing about the stick is that you sacrifice about 3 MPG's. I can still get a good bit higher than the ratings with mine. It's capable of really good mileage. Got 40 on a 180-mile trip already. Usually get about 36 on 100-mile highway drives. Stick is rated for 34 highway.

Question about your sound system. Are you getting full mid-range sounds from those Polks? Or do they sound thin? You are not amping them? If they are amped, does that help give a fuller sound? Not louder, but more full? And is the stock stereo's DSP part of the cause of the thin sound? And does the amp override the DSP?

I'm thinking bottom line is new stereo AND amp, and speakers would provide the best sound, because the stock stereo is an absolute piece. But then you have these thin metal doors and how can you possiblly get good full sound putting a speaker on a thin metal door?

I'm thinking on mounting some component speakers in boxes and putting them on the back seat floors. I want MIDRAGE full sound, at low volume levels. Not sure if I can get that with stock stereo in the equation. I already have a powered sub in back, and the lows sound beautiful. But up front it's horrendous thin, tin-can sound.

Thanks for the help

V6 manual 6 speed gas mileage penalty ...

When I bought my V6 manual 6 speed Coupe gas mileage was Not a top factor in considering my car. I think the sedan V6 Auto with VCM gets great gas mileage & on the highway, I get about 7-8 miles /gallon less. But I am not looking to Hyper Mileage in my Coupe. I bought my car to have fun while driving. Not many people Buy the V6 Manual 6 Coupes but I'm really happy Honda has decided to continue producing this car.

Please send me a PM of your same exact question. I don't want to derail this thread. :)

I feel the same way about C&D too. Thirty to forty years ago their reviews were something I could count on. Today they say whatever their advertisers want to hear.

I don't care what anyone says about my car. I don't care who rates it highly or who rates it poorly. As long as Im happy with a car then that's all that matters. Too many people here get too hyped up when a magazine praises their car and too upset when a magazine writes negative things about it.

This guy speaks the truth!
I exchanged a 2014 six speed MT V6 EX-L coupe for a 2014 auto V6 EX-L coupe. It was prompted by some major paint defects but I took advantage of the swap to change transmissions. I could not be happier with the auto transmission. Nowadays auto transmissions are really sweet and remove the burden of having to constantly shift in traffic. Gearing ratio is better for highway driving. Shifts are always ultra smooth, never jerky. MPG is way better due to VCM. I was an MT zealot when I initially purchased the MT but having experienced both in the exact same model and year, I would only buy auto trannys henceforth. I use the paddle shifters once in a blue moon for the heck of it. If anyone has the MT urge, those paddle shifters are sweet - very fast shifts. I just don't get the MT fanaticism but then again, I was one until I had the somewhat unique opportunity to drive both for several months for the exact same model.

Traffic sucks with a stick. I bought this car as a commuter. I have had sticks in the past but I have found them to be more enjoyable on rear wheel drive vehicles, like on my 09 G8 GXP. I'll have a MT again one day... If they still make them.
