Hi all. Noob here, to the forum and Honda cars. I've got a few CRFs but first time in the seat of a car. Glad to be a part of both.

I bought my 18 Accord as a second car for commuting. It's about as base model you can get save a few dealer installed items. I bought it for the fuel mileage and it has the most driver leg room....I'm 6'8".

However I need about 2" more to be perfect. I had the seat in my tundra modified so it sits lower and goes back further than stock. Lowering the seat was done at a machine shop but the extension was done at a car audio store. I originally wanted them to customize the center console to give my knee more room when the guy said, "why don't you just modify/remove [THIS] and you can go back as far as you want and I (shop guy) don't have to worry with being sued after you get in a wreck for modifying a safety feature."

That guy has since left and the others don't know what to do. Does anyone here have an idea what I might do to get the extra leg room I need?

Welcome to Drive Accord, tall one.

I don't know about modifying the center console, but you can contact a company called extendmyseat, and ask about their products for the 2018+ Accord.

The 7th, 8th, and 9th Gen sub-forums here all have tall owners who have used seat extenders without issues. There is one other company that makes these but I can't remember the name....

Also, my tall brother wears a size 15 clown shoe- he is heck on car carpets....think about some carpet protection near the gas pedal or you will have a hole in the thin Accord carpet in 3 months....

Good thought, I have weathertech in my truck to keep my 14 boot heel from digging a hole.

I'll be sure and check them out. Thanks for the tip!

ExtendMySeat just responded to my inquiry: "We hope to have a solution later this year."

I am 6'9" with a 15 shoe. I removed the driver's side trim piece on the center console. It doesn't look pretty but helps my leg comfort using adaptive cruise control or brake hold.

Here is a related 10th gen tall guy thread:

Are 2018 Seat Mount Dimensions Same as 2017? Or Options to Extend Seats

I am looking into extending the seats but the company Extend My Seats will not be providing rails for the 2018 this year.

Does anybody have any idea if the 2017 versions will work on the 2018?

Or are there any other options?

Any help would be appreciated

They told me in mid August that they have no plans to release 2018 versions this year and have no solutions for me.

Is ExtendMySeat the only company on the planet that makes car seat extensions?

I’ve used them for my 2016 Accord. But now I have the 2018 Accord and I’m hoping there’s a seat extension solution available soon by anyone.

hoping and waiting...

In my old Mazdaspeed6, I had a similar problem. I'm only 6'4, but I used a Sparco Chronos seat with Wedge rails, and the seat would literally slide back until it was touching the back seat. Leg room wasn't an issue at all.
