The new 11th Gen Accord has been unveiled and they have killed the 2.0T engine. There are only 2 drivetrains offered now. The 1.5T with the CVT & hybrid. I really do like the new styling and interior especially the new infotainment screen. Honda hopes up to 50% of all new generation Accord sales are hybrids. I am majorly disappointed that they have chosen to kill off the 2.0T engine.

The 1.5 and Hybrid models accounted for a lot more sales than the 2.0. I personally have a 2.0 and love it.

Honda is making many trims of the new 11th gen Accord hybrid only. The Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring are all hybrid drivetrain only. The only 1.5 trims are LX and EX. For whatever reason, Honda thinks it's a good idea to include a "Sport" mode on a hybrid drivetrain. What's the point?

The 11th gen Accord looks like crap to be honest. It's the most bland thing ever.

I'm kind of glad they killed off the 2.0 because the way this car looks, it doesn't deserve a higher performance engine.

EDIT: The blue looks much better! Could be the lighting too. It looks better in a darker scene.

I know style is subjective but in my opinion the 11th gen is vastly inferior to the 10th. I like the little LED screens on the interior climate knobs, but that's about it.

That being said, I was never going to be a future Accord buyer since the 6spd was dropped, but no large engine offering is just going to send people who are less picky about transmissions but still want more oomph to the competition.

It's pretty wild that in only 5 years the Accord:

- Lost the coupe bodystyle
- Lost all manual offerings
- Lost the larger engine trim (V6 or 2.0T).

Sad times :(

Yeah, competition in the car manufacturing business is brutal and subject to the whims of the fickle public as well as the ever power hungry government that dictate a lot of the direction the business takes. Women love sitting up high so that's why we have so many crossover SUVs--they love those. Personally, I like old time cars (sedans, coupes) and trucks.

Time for a TLX!
Yeah, it totally just occurred to me that the base TLX is pretty much an Accord with the 2.0T+10spd. So, they're likely trying to push buyers upmarket.

Acura used to have Honda's spicy engines as standard instead of optional and have some extra luxury that a regular Honda didn't.

Looks like my next vehicle will be a Tesla.
I'd love to own a Tesla, but their awful fit, finish, and reliablity keeps me from spending my own money on one. An absolute blast to drive...until they fall apart.

EVs make less sense to own until there's more repair options available for them. Tesla is the example here. For any repairs I have to go through Tesla to get it fixed? That's a no-go for me. Just like I wouldn't own a Honda if the Honda dealership was the only place I could get it repaired even outside of warranty.

I was lukewarm on EV's until I drove my daughter's Model X with a near silent 0-60 in 3.8 sec. And as I was sitting at a light, I glanced over to a gas station and saw the price at $6.50/gal (California, I know, I know). A $40k 2023 Accord touring with 203 hp hybrid/cvt or a $56K base price for the Model 3 performance at 3.1sec 0-60. Plenty of Tesla superchargers in my neighborhood:)

EVs may be all well and good, but the oil and gas industry in this country employs thousands if not millions of people in good paying jobs that help this to be one of the strongest countries in the world. I don’t mind having a choice to drive EVs, but I damn sure don’t want our government mandating the we all have to drive EVs. There’s room for individual choice—ICE or EV.
