current mileage 130k miles.

Accord started to burn oil approx at 127k miles. Now I have to add 1qt oil every 1k miles since oil is at the lowest mark or below.

I'm not sure if switching from the Mobile 1 full syn 0w-20 to Costco's Kirklands full syn 0w-20 during the last time I was changing oil at 125k miles was a contributing factor.

After watching a few youtube vids on the subject, I'm not sure if replacing PCV valve would improve this problem.

If you ever had to replace PCV valve, did improve the oil burning issue?

p.s. there are no oil spots on the garage floor, the engine looks good to me, and no oil spots underneath the car.

PCV valve can contribute to oil burning, but it is unlikely to cause oil burning that significant. Remove it and give it a shake, see if you can hear it rattle, that would confirm that it is working.

I would be more suspecting of rings.

I seem to remember (meaning I could be wrong) that the newer PCV valves don't have the old-school rattle as they changed the design of the internal valve. Just because it doesn't rattle doesn't meant it's bad any more. They are cheap enough that if you're going far enough to remove it, you might as well just replace it.

Just adding to oil burning experience. I changed oil in my son's car 17 HAH a few weeks ago. 4.5 qts went in, ~ 6 months, 5,761 miles on Kirkland Signature 0W-20, less than 1 gal came out. So, about 1 qt disappeared somewhere.

oops. Looking back at my spreadsheet, I filled correctly in Sept. which was 4 qts. I am used to the 4.5 qts for Honda and Acura, I forgot that the hybrids are 4.0 qts. I sent my kid away with half qt over filled. Nothing I can do now.

I replaced pcv valve and that was the easiest dyi on accord hybrid. It literally took 2 minutes. The cost is $33.5 (including tax) from amazon sold by cawood honda (aka honda of murfreesboro).
Also, changed oil w/penzoil platinum high-mileage 0w-20. Hopefully, that should help alleviate oil burning, but maybe not.

Did you test the old one you took off by shaking it and listening for a rattle? Was there a lot of build-up in it?
As TN9thSi mentioned earlier, the new valve didn't have any sound to it while shaking (i.e. no rattle).

I too noticed my 2013 accord se 4 cyl w/160k mi is consuming oil. no visible leaks. unfortunately i am also experiencing the dreaded P0420 code, but it is intermittent. trying to figure out if its simply the cat going bad or I have leaky piston rings or valves (or something else). I am assuming (maybe erroneously) that the two are connected in some way. I have sent off sample oil for oil analysis. once i get analysis back i plan on testing compression. anybody know the the compression should be on this car? I am also wondering if I should also do a smoke test to see if I have a vacuum or exhaust leak somewhere. I do not seem to have a performance issue, i.e. power or misfires). I replaced plugs and saw no burned oil. also replaced pcv valve.

Any updates on your issue since replacing the PCV?

fingers crossed & over 1k miles later i didn't have to add yet any more oil..
magic combo: new pcv valve + penzoil platinum high-mileage 0w-20 :)

nope. there were no check engine lights. i just got used to checking oil levels periodically like once a month.
i'm thinking my P0420 code is due to burning oil clogging up cat. i am also having a heck of a time reading the oil dipstick. i pull out the stick, wipe it clean and stick it back in and then out again to get a reading but its hard to read as oil seems to be on the edge of the stick where the two dots are instead of a nice clean oil level line.

Are you making sure you are inserting the oil stick back in correctly ?
