I have a 1989 Honda Accord Lxi fuel injected,automatic.

The car recently started having check engine light come on.
It will come on sometimes when car first starts or it will come on in few min,.
When light comes on car runs rough and when i go to turn car off then few minutes latertry to start car hard to start. I mean i have to crank it over for good 10 15 seconds for it to restart.
I have had car tuned up injectors checked all good but as soon as that check engine light comes on it runs poor and rough.

Some one told me its the Ignition control module?

Any help appreciated.

it has 180000 miles on it
and were can i get it tested to get code from check engine light as autozone, etc, only do 1996 and newer.
dealer prob want fortune..
thanks

The check engine light has a stored trouble code, and to know why it's on it must be read. I don't know alot about OBDI, which is what your car has, but hopefully someone here can tell you how to read it.

If it's happening when warm & it's being restarted 5-10 minutes after it's shut off then it's likely a bad TW sensor & it's flooding the car. Pretty common for that car.

check your spark plugs, wires, cap/rotor, sounds like a missfire.:paranoid:
or it could be a ignition control module (ICM, or igniter) but i doubt it.

i have had my fair share, of ICM problems, i had 2 of them go out on me, first time car was running fine, then i went to start it one day and there was no spark:dunno:, the next time my car died while driving:paranoid:, and would not start up again till the next morning:thumbsdow, and only would run for 15 min at a time.:lmao:
so your problem doesn't sound like that.

oh and welcome to DA:wave:
