In about a month I'll be ready to purchase my first Honda Accord. I am confused on what model to go with. I really like how the sport model looks overall being that it has dual exhaust 18 inch tires and the deck lid spoiler. I don't know if I want to go with the Sport model because it has a 4 cylinder engine and paddle shifters which I hear are an annoyance if you accidentally hit them with your hand.
My first choice would be the exl v6 model because it has leather, a powerful engine and a much more powerful stereo, but I really do not like how the rims look. I wonder if I can swap out the rims on the v6 model with the ones on the Sport model.
If I go was the exl v6 is it a good idea to add the X package to it or just certain components like sports grille and the deck lid spoiler?

I was faced with this same decision. What you can do is go with a v6 EXL and just ask your dealer if you can upgrade to the HFP or sport wheels instead of the factory wheels. They should be able to cut you a deal. You can always get the spoiler and put it on yourself like I did for less than $130. Same with the sport grill.

Note that I was able to get my v6 EXL with NAV for

$28210 sale price
$790 destination charge
$250 doc fee
$33 registration
$1887 taxes

Total OTD price: $31,170

At that price I did not get the trunk liner, rubber floor mats, or any add ons, but it's not anything I was interested in. Unfortunately I didn't know about the HFP wheels at the time, otherwise I would have negotiated for those as well and spent the difference between the stock wheels and them.

MSRP was $32,860

This thread should give you a good idea on what to spend if you don't want NAV: http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=74939

At the moment, I'm undecided on which wheels to get.

Depends what your budget is. You can always find Sport wheels online. You can make an EX-L look like a Sport that way. As far as the paddle shifters: I don't find them in the way and I've never accidentally hit them. Best thing you can do is go drive a few different trims and decide which one is right for you.

Here is what I was quoted.

2013*Honda Accord Sedan EXL V6
MSRP: $30,860 *
Internet Sale Price: $28,692, includes destination fee.

Is the decklid worth getting? What about the front sports grille? I was going to go for the x package, but they told me that the x package II is $3,100 installed. Thats steep.

That price seems $1,500 too high.

lol... for real?... you might as well subtract that from your equation.

Other than that, good luck on your choice.
Come back and post pics when you get it.

The more and more I look at the rims actually I am liking them more and more.

Subtract what?
...the bolded orange...
the "much more powerful stereo." << this is a fabrication.

other than that, i feel you.

The best rims are the Touring ones (i think); the ones with the black shading on them.

360 watts is very cool, but it's not a deal breaker.

As far as add one like the x package or aero package. How popular are these..? I was thinking about just getting the decklid spoiler.

Edmunds tmv in my area is $28500. I also received a price of $28,430.

Does the exl v6 come stock with dual exhaust like the Sport model?

The Sport trim has the wheels with the darker shaded two toned wheels.

It doesn't matter what Edmunds TMV is. Your target should be $800+ below invoice regardless of trim level.

Doesn't that mean the sales person earns $0 commission if it's under invoice?

Here's is what Costco Auto shows. So your saying I should go $800 below $28,292? Wouldn't I have to find out out what the dealer has as far as options first? Floor mats, etc..

Invoice MSRP
Base$27,502 $30,070
Options$0 $0
Destination$790$790
Total$28,292. $30,860

No way so far I received offers of $28,400 And $28,600 for the exl v6. I need to find out what options the dealer has on the vehicle now and then work my way down. I would like to get the decklid spoiler.
I would write down or print all the issues related to the V6, bring them to the stealer and then "low ball" them to the extreme. I want 2000 grand below invoice as a starting point.

I haven't heard about that. What issues? Is it best to avoid the v6 and go with the Sport model four cylinder?

Sorry to drag this back up but I spit soda all over my work computer when I read this...

PLEASE do NOT let the stereo push you toward the EX-L. You'll be disappointed. If the audio system in your car is a priority for you I'd suggest that you make sure to give it a good listen during the test drive because it is not up to par.

The v6 is what I like. The stereo is just a bonus.

I found a dealer who will swap out the xle v6 rims with the Sport model rims. Is that safe to do this being that the Sport has 18' rims and the xle v6 has 17' rims?

What is the most popular color combination? I am thinking about Silver and black leather for the exl v6.
