Completely new to any kind of forums so I aapologize for the amateur nature of my posts.... But I'm having issues!!! I have a 08 accord that developed all kinds of issues on the way back from the beach....it had no power, hard to start, and the vtc actuator started rattling worse than it ever had before.... So I started with the obvious and replaced that, replaced the wiped out tensioner and proceeded to try and start it . it starts easily and no rattle!!! But it pretty much much dies immediately.

I rolled the motor over twice before I put it all back together and it looked good I thought....but I'm going to take it back apart tomorrow and check it as I'm inexperienced with these things and you're much smarter than I am! Thank you

Ok... So I took the valve cover off... Everything lines up perfectly. This has me so confused! I wish I knew more about these cars. The car previously threw a high map sensor voltage code and a high cam positioning sensor voltage.....also... In the few secs it does run, with my foot in the gas, it free revs very very slowly..... Im trying to get this done by tomorrow so I can drive it to work.... I honestly don't have time or money for a dealership which, I know, ****s for me

you can't check the timing by only looking at the cam gears on the k24, assuming this is the k24.

you need to look at the crank gear socket as well.

do you have any CEL's on? if so use that as a starting template.

When you line up the white mark on the pulley to the arrow on the front cover, the two hash marks on the gears should align, and the two marks, iirc should be at about 1 o'clock.

If you didn't have the VCT sprocket properly set up when you put it on, it may align when turning by hand, but once oil pressure starts to attempting to modify the cam timing it will be out.

a map voltage high code can be caused by a lack of engine vacuum from the timing being out when the vct actuator crapped out.

What was the code for the cmp sensor? P0341 by chance?

Also, how far is the tensioner protruding when in operation. Honda specifies limits, if it's at or beyond, the chain is stretched.
