I bought a brand new accord coupe 2014 EX-L V6 4 months ago and someone already ruined it. It's a new car so I always park far, went to the movies came back to see my car smashed in. I couldn't believe it, he/she rammed in my car and took off, no note, nothing. Visited local body shops and got estimates from 900- 1500. Here are some pics. Can I find the frame of the headlights or would I need a whole new set? the lights are working perfectly but the thing that holds it in place is broken. My front grill is also broken from where it holds it in place. Huge gap between the hood and side panel, front bumper needs buffering and respray. I'm also concerned about my FCW, I think it's also smashed. Can anyone help me find some parts? or some good advice

Did you file a police report? That's the first thing you need to do. Then contact your insurance, that's why it's there. That totally sucks, but I would have your insurance take care of it.

No police report filed because this has happened before different car and thought they would help, it was just a waste of time to be honest. My insurance is difficult, they won't help. My monthly payments will increase, I think its better them not knowing.

Well, then, your situation is VERY strange! Don't know what to say or how to help. You have gotten good advices already, supra.

Thanks

Sorry to hear the news, but hopefully everything goes well on your car.

Sorry to hear. I agree with others about filing a report and do through insurance but I see you don't want to go that route.

I'm with him on not reporting it to the insurance company. You always end up paying for it in the long run. Plus, he'll still have a clean carfax. Someone broke into my car and stole my GPS. Sure the window replacement was free. But they still increased my insurance by $9 a month for 3 years. So I ended up paying $324 for a $200 window replacement.

At first I tried to park in "safer" places but I've given up on that.. seems like something always happens when I try to be more careful. At my local movie theater the parking lot is drift strip for the high school students.

The first thing I would do is get a new insurance company if they are not helping. I would pay this out of pocket since it would not be a lot more than your deductible. Like you, we park all of our cars far away from the madding crowd. Invariably someone will be right next to us when we come out.

Got a nice grocery cart ding a few months ago and we were not even parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I do not understand people who have no sense of treating people like they would like to be treated.

i personally gave up on parking in BFE.

seems that your car becomes a target for dumb people. i park normally and havnt had an issue in years....knock on wood.

Also gave up on BFE, but I still seek out spots with no parking to the right...and I hug that curb! No driver's door to worry about, and increases distance from any passenger doors. It can backfire, though, when wife swings her door open without looking and nails a tree.

imo keeping it off Car Fax / vehicle history is more concerning than insurance claim. But if you don't intend to sell until it's a beater anyways, car insurance shouldn't increase much for a NF (no fault) claim.

Google about CLUE reports to decide, imo. That's main report insurance carriers use to judge your driving, FYI. Generally NF incidents are overlooked, AF you get reamed.

Even if you see slight rate increase over 3 yrs, probably not nearly as much as out-of-pocket repairs. Concern becomes multiple small claims and they consider you bad juju. :sorry:

Edit: Not reporting on insurance doesn't keep it off Car Fax, btw. Most repair shops report servicing to them, too.

I don't park in BFE if it's all by myself. I just pass all the "desirable" spots, then leave a 3 or 4 car gap between myself and the others.

what BFE? lol

that headlamp is about $700 alone. that has to be a $2k repair.

if you want to save it maybe they can straighten the hood and you could probably save the head lamp.

since the headlamp took most of the hit i would be worried of a microcrack in the housing. you will know you have a problem when its moist outside and condensation gets in.

hope all goes well

your rates will not go up. If this is a hit and run, than its not your fault. therefore you will not have a surcharge. What is important to know in this situation, is that your car being younger than 12 months or 12k miles means that you will have the repairs done with Honda Factory Parts. I would jump on this now. You may have a deductible, but its well worth having your car repaired with factory parts and not taking the cheap way out.

JMHO
