I am leasing a 2018 Accord 2.0T. I've had it about 7 months. I have read the other threads about malfunctioning Carplay, reboots, freezings, unpredictable parking sensors, hood fluttering and a passenger side mirror that never seems to rotate back to your original preset. I have experienced all these issues over the months with no resolution. My navigation was frozen for a week and the morning of my service appointment, the system rebooted and it worked! %@#*&!!! The car has been into service 3 times with only a factory reset which wipes out most of my presets. Service has no fix. I have video to prove. I have called Honda Canada twice to open a case study and it's the standard reply from corporate. There are issues almost every 2-3 weeks. I trying to get Honda to break my lease and get into another Honda/Acura product. I'm not optimistic and it's completely taken the joy out of driving because I'm looking for the next problem to occur. That's my rant.

If you are considering owning a 2018 Accord, I would not recommend this car.
These issues are very real and too common with no present fix! There are many more choices on the market.
Good Luck.

I appreciate your honesty with the car! I own a 1.5 sport and I experience some of the same problems/ issues. They aren't huge, but just enough to make the driving experience super annoying. I agree in that I would not buy this car again, and am considering trying to get rid of it.
I notice that the computer decides on its own when it wants to work. None of my sensors work, and there's a bunch of rattles that come and go in the passenger side dash area.
I've talked to Honda and they give me the same response in that basically "deal with it". This is too new of a car to be having these kind of issues. So here's another Honda owner not too pleased with the new Accord.

I notice these complaints are largely about electronics. Mine has been a voice in the wilderness ranting about the general uselessness of most of this stuff, and how distracting they are to the driver. Yet they're called "safety features." Car manufacturers, like drug dealers, have made us addicts. This stuff is demonstrably unreliable, distracting, and basically beta tests. There's a fix for the dash rattle, the hood flutter and the side mirror. Do a search. https://www.driveaccord.net/forums/241-10th-generation/539927-dash-rattle-fix.html

First model year tech woes....

8 months ago you said you would post a detailed comparison between your Accord and your Audi A3, and that you would review the new Accord. You never did: https://www.driveaccord.net/forums/...ms/241-10th-generation/517498-audi-a3-s-line-owner-accord-2-0t.html#post6447242

Each of those issues you mentioned has a thread on them. The discussions also mention a degree of success in solving these issues- such as hood fluttering and software updates. They also mention how Accords with later build dates have not experienced these issues to the degree that earlier builds did.

Lots of car lines have new tech problems. But yes, some issues never get resolved to owner satisfaction.

My 1991 240sx (no air bags, no ABS, no cup holders, no nothing) is a joy to work on.

My sport has over 7k miles on it, I have put 2k on it.

No rattles, pretty much everyone that has seen it and rode in it loves it. Once I got used to LKAS, auto braking, active cruise, etc...I love all of it, but I do not use all of it all the time and some situations do not apply (mainly active cruise, I like conventional cruise). If I am not on the hwy, I am in sport mode and it is super fun to drive. My iPhone is always plugged in for car play and I haven't had one app crash. I did not use onboard GPS, I use the iPhone google maps when it is plugged in. It has been on 3 trips of 500+ miles and rides great.

My complaints right now are 1st world problems, like why not LED bulbs in everything, speakers could be better, $1200 for a windshield replacement.

Couldn’t agree more with the previous posts. The more tech you get the more chance of problems. I too have a 1.5 sport and love it. That’s the reason I stayed away from the higher trims. There are just too many things to go wrong. Staying closer to the lx trims usually means less frequent issues, but again some cars just have more issues.

...and the more tech, the more potential for issues. It's inescapable. For being a joy to work on, I'd have to choose the 1966 SAAB Type 96 I once owned. Three cylinders, 750cc, no valves, take a wire brush to the plugs every couple of months, and good to go. Gas got low, hose in 8 gallons of regular and throw in a pint can of oil. I had the radiator soldered a few times, took about 15 minutes to take out. Might have replaced a fan belt. Needed to run with plywood in front of the radiator in the winter (in addition to putting in a winter thermostat, another 15-minute job), it was so cold-blooded. The only electronics was an AM radio. Left a nice little trail of blue smoke down the road. Good times.

NB: Still nothing wrong with our Accord, build date 6/18, 5 months and counting.....

There's indeed too much tech and electronics in my 2.0T sport and this is the lowest trim 2.0T. You can't get a 2.0T without the big brother nanny state. Effectively I still paid for these features which are a useless annoyance to me.

If I get an owners survey, I am definitely providing this feedback. I fortunately kept my old car too.

My priorities are different than others.

1. Driving dynamics especially handling and engine/transmission response.
2. Comfort
3. Gas mileage
4. Reliability of the mechanicals
5. Roominess
6. Styling
7. Reliability of all this new tech.

Actually nothing has gone wrong. ZERO after 11,000 miles in my Sport 2.0 10 speed. Great car!

What part of the nanny state can you not disable? Just turn it all off.

The "event data recorder" definitely cannot be disabled.

1.5 Sport. I like my car, don’t love it. Seat bottoms might as well be wooden bleachers to me. Rattles in the center of the dash every now and then and in the rear deck. My wife mentions a rattle on the passenger side where the seat belt can slide up and down. I don’t have electrical gremlins and I also don’t really use CarPlay often. Maybe once a month since Bluetooth works better for me.

Overall it’s a good car. I like the looks and I have a gel pad to sit on that has helped the bleacher seats tremendously.

My dealer rep had a Sport 2.0T and he said he couldn't stand the seats. When documenting an issue with my EX-L, he commented that he wished that the Sports had an option for better seats.

I have experienced regular issues with Android Auto malfunctioning (tells me my phone is disconnected among other quirks).

That is my only gripe and it's something I can put up with. I absolutely love my 2.0 manual. It is smooth and quiet when I want it to be and yet is also alot of fun when I have an open stretch of road ahead of me and I can bring it to redline!

It is good on gas, handles well and is frankly an incredible value, especially with the discounts available with sedan sales in decline. Highly recommended[emoji106]

Value is something that is overlooked sometimes. Still amazed what I paid, and what all this car has.

My rant on issues is my own daily experience and I'm glad that most owners do not have the level of problems that I have. I researched the Accord before owning and found it to be a great value and it was very close to the Audi A3 and better in some ways. But, what I have noticed is that car tech has 2 sides. Having the features and how it works. The Accord has premium tech but needs refinement. Maybe the refinement is for Acura.

There is no reason that the parking sensors in the front should go off while I'm waiting in traffic at a lights.(Very frequent!) Sure, I can turn it off but why?

I just want the tech to work and I'm paying every month for this. I'll keep the forum updated about any fixes. I had a meeting with the Service Manager and hopefully he can help.

My next post will have a comparison between the Audi A3 s-line and Accord 20.T Touring.
Cheers.
