Hello everyone,

looking for suggestions or anyone who’s had similar issues. I’ve got a 2018 Honda Accord sport with the 1.5t engine. It’s got 101500 miles on it. A couple weeks ago it started giving me issues as I was leaving work. Getting on the freeway on-ramp, I accelerated and the car had a hard time moving. Eventually got a flashing check engine light and I pulled over. I restarted the car and it started running fine again. But again I started to accelerate, it started doing the same thing. I got it home and ran a code that was cylinder 2 misfire. Decided I would change out the spark plugs. No one in town had the OEM NGKs so I went with the autolites to see if it was a spark issue or not. I also bought a single coil to see if that was an issue. Swapped out the plugs and the coil and the car ran fine for a few days until last week. However, it started going into full limp mode with all lights on the dash. This time it gave me a cylinder 3 misfire. From reading online, I figured it might a spark plug issue since Hondas have a hard time with autolites, so I went back to the parts store and purchased a Bosch spark plug to try it out in that cylinder. Sure enough it cleared the misfire and the car ran fine for another week. Just a few days ago, again was I was coming home from work and getting on the freeway, I started having the same issues and went into full limp mode. Ran codes again and got a cylinder 1 misfire. Messed around with the coils and moved the Bosch plug from cylinder 3 to cylinder 1 and again it cleared the codes and misfire issues. As of right now, the car is moving just fine, but I don’t have high hopes it’s going to work fine. I went ahead and ordered the NGK Oem plugs to replace them all as many people online have suggesting only using the NGK Brand. They won’t be here for a few days (small town struggles). I’m curious to know if anyone has ran into any similar issues and how they fixed it. I’ve been a few things about the fuel injectors possibility being bad. The car also has the fuel pump recall, though it sounds like parts are back-ordered. Again, living in a small town would mean having to make a whole trip to get to the dealership. Do you think cheap spark plugs would cause this problem?

Cylinder misfires along with limp mode and a lit up dash in the 1.5T engine could be a sign of a blown head gasket. My car is currently in the shop for that very issue. All of the lights on my dash came on along with a bunch of warnings then it went into limp mode. This thread has plenty of others that have also experienced the issue.

I had the exact issue I even changed the fuel injectors with oem and got it to run fine for 2 months then it misfired again and I finally got the hedgasket done and it’s been 3 weeks so far since the headgasket job

Make sure that you study (in detail) the thread linked above - Honda is well-aware of the head gasket issue and does sometimes provide some assistance due to the design defect of the head gasket which often fails a relatively low mileage despite strict adherence to factory maintenance schedules. Most-likely they are providing that assistance in hopes of avoiding a class-action suit. Cheaper for Honda to deal with it on a case-by-case basis vs. offering a blanket resolution/recall/TSB.

My 2018 1.5 Sport (only 65k miles) went into limp mode the other day. Dealer just told me that they found coolant leaking into cylinder #2 and will most likely need a head gasket replacement. People told me I was crazy when I bought it new and purchased the Allstate Vehicle Service Contract for $2k. Looks like it was the right thing. I knew it was the first year of a new engine and all the safety tech.
