I have a 2010 Accord coupe, 4cyl. Currently at 4920 miles with 30% oil life left. How many more miles can I get out of it? Roughly. I know it depends on your driving characteristics. I'm going away for the weekend (central NJ - Poconos) and don't want to go over. Was thinking of changing it now but I'd rather wait.

Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

You want to wait until the MM gets to 15%. Especially for your first oil change, the oil from the factory has some break in ingredient.

Do you drive your car pretty hard? I'm asking b/c I'm at 70% at 3300 miles.

30% oil life left = 70% oil life spend doing 4920 miles. If you drive the same way you did you will reach 100% oil life spend at 4920/0.7= 7028miles

So you will reach 15% oil life in about 7028/0.15 = 1054 miles. that is when your odometer writes 4920+1054 = 5974 miles.

wow, math person.

But that's only if the MM is linear, which it is not.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I'm at 70% oil life after 3,450 miles. I drive around 350 miles a week (a mix of sustained 70mph - 80mph highway and stop-n-go/bumper-to-bumper traffic).

i let mine get down to 5% or 10% before i change it. my first oil change was at 8K miles. depending on your driving habits, it varied alittle bit. from what i understand, the first oil in your car is like the best oil they give you from the factory, that what the dealership told me, you want to let it get down and let it lubricate in your engine, so they recommend me to back it for its first change at 5 or 10%. but i could be wrong, but thats wat they told me..

my last oil change I let it get to about 15%, 2nd oil change at around 15k and the oil was actually very think and dark, almost felt that I should have changed it a lot sooner. I'm going to do the next oil change at 5k miles just to get fresh oil in. Not 100% confident about the oil life %

That's why I change my oil at 5K-6K 2X a year no matter what. MM is at about ~ 30%.

We can debate on MM as we have on here. But one can't debate what comes out of the drain plug.

Your car, your money.

We did an oil change at 3900 at 60%.
