Okay just as it says I have a 2007 sedan with Navi and i want to replace the stock speakers. ive seen it done by getting another CD player in the cubby area but i dont want to lose that space. So my question is if i replace the stock speakers will i tell a huge difference. Also what speakers should I go with.

no you will not get a huge difference, it will be a little difference, just noticeable, but it wont have any "wow" factor. and remember it will not be louder any means. the bottleneck is the signal that the stock headunit has, its pretty weak and poor quality vs aftermarket.

you seriously dont want to do this like me?

you get used to not having a cubby, and there is a small slot for small things. as for speakers...dont spend too much because it wont be a big difference no matter what. just get some good budget coaxials like polk DB series.

I think this is very subjective and will vary wildly from person to person. I for one heard a HUGE diffrence when I switched out my stock speakers and actually said "WOW" out loud when I heard the new ones for the first time. I thought it couldn't get any better and then I added an amp and it did. Still the difference between the stock and after market was night and day to me even without the amp.

You must have chosen poor speakers PaperBoy if you don't think you hear a huge difference in sound quality. You need to choose a speaker rated accordingly to work well with the OEM head unit.

The OEM speakers are basic full range with no lows, mids, or highs. I bought some JL Audio 6 1/2 two-ways for the front doors and 6x9 three-ways (the two-way models don't fit in the rear deck) for the rear deck and the improvement in sound is exceptional. I get deeper bass and clearer highs from all four speakers and I spent less than $200 to do it. Replacing the speakers is an inexpensive and easy way to improve your sound with the OEM head unit.

See the thread here, but ignore most of the follow up threads since the majority of people went completely off topic and think you can only get good sound by spending thousands on multiple amps and subwoofers, which is clearly not true. They missed the point of the thread which was improving your sound on a budget.

That is your opinion, and you are entitled to your opinion. However, your ears hear sound from the speakers, not the stereo. If your advice is to buy cheap poor quality speakers, you will get lousy sound, even from an aftermarket head unit. Shop smart and buy quality speakers with the correct power rating for the system you have, then you will get fantastic sound. If you don't think speakers make a difference, then why do people replace them with better quality speakers? They make all the difference.

Your opinion about the OEM stereo is subjective. I find the OEM stereo to be quite good compared to other vehicles. No need to change it out when you can do an easy speaker upgrade, which is what the OP wants to do.

I have a 2008 Element with the 270-watt stereo and subwoofer. The full range speakers in the Element put the Accord speakers to shame. However, I still swapped them out with Polk 2-way speakers in the 4 doors. Afterwards the clarity of the vocals and guitars were jumping out of those speakers. The full range speakers were not capable of such clarity. Properly rated speakers with the 270 watt amp will drive aftermarket speakers the way they were designed. It made a huge difference.

Agreed. My car's OEM radio (which is 120 watts I believe) sounds a heck of a lot better than my mom's 07 Tahoe, which has a Bose speaker system. Only downside is rattles, and that the front door speakers distort fast.

so hillstones u say that 2ways don't fit in the rear deck but i see u have a coupe. Would that include the sedans? looking into an upgrade myself.

alright guys, I agree, while switching out only speakers CAN be a big difference, you have to spend more $ to get the sound you want. Like you can get really good speakers and oem headunit, or average speakers and aftermarket headunit.

my opinion was based on the fact that the OP just wanted to replace speakers without headunit. So i assume he's trying to save a little $ and not go too fancy.

the speakers in my car arent "poor" but I guess they arent top of the line either. I used to have polk db series all around, but now I have infinity reference components up front and kenwood 6x9 in rear. They are all amp'ed.

I had a Eclipse AVN-7000 in the upper dash, it was amazing with MB Quart Reference series seperate front & coax rear w/o an amp but the A/C was to shit cause of the DAMN Metra bullshit dash kit. I went back to stock, sold the AVN-7000 and kept the factory HU and MB Quarts. They sounded crappy, distorted pass volume 30. A week ago I added a amp, sub, two LOC and now I can barely turn it pass volume 18. I will be going the route of a lower dash kit soon for better signal, USB and bluetooth.

He explained that the brand he went with did not fit. Other brands ma or may not. BTW what kind of sound are you looking for? We could better advise you on the speakers you should go with or check out. Someone mentioned Polk. When i worked in car audio department at Circuit City, we'd recommend the Polks highly if the were wanting just to replace the OEM's but continue using stock deck. They have tight bass and very natural highs that i think you'd appreciate. Also, keep the stock tweeters in the dash if you go with 2-ways in the doors. This will heighten the sound stage so that it will sound like the band is in front of you and not coming from the floor...;).

thank you for the input. i dont want to spend alot of money on it because in 4 years the car will be given to my sister when she turns 16. so im not going to spend a whole lot of money on it. i dont want to lose the cubby down by the shifter either. I just want to spend enough to make it last about 4 years then my sister can deal with it then.

Hey paperboy, do you still get audio from your navigation? Or do you only get audio from the aftermarket receiver?

I want to add USB and bluetooth to my 7.5G Navi, and I think aftermarket receiver would be the cheapest way. Any insight?

The JL Audio 6x9 two-ways would not fit because the tweeter was mounted too high on the speaker so it hits the factory grille, per Crutchfield. I wanted the matching pair to go with the JL Audio 6 1/2 two-ways I installed in the doors. So I had to go with the JL Audio TR690 6x9 three-way speakers, which do fit in the rear deck. Yes, the rear deck is the same for the coupe and sedan.

Each speaker manufacturer is different. Some speakers fit, some don't, depending on the design of the speaker.

Agreed. The idea is that you need to choose speakers that are properly rated for the system you have in the car. Most people don't do this. They see a speaker they like and they think it is good, but they don't check the specs to see if it will work well with their application. If you buy speakers that require high power to sound good, they won't work well with a relatively low power head unit. Or, if you buy low power speakers with an amp, same issue.

When I upgraded my system, I was keeping the Premium Navi head unit. So I needed speakers that would work well with lower power head units (a system without an external aftermarket amp). The JL Audio speakers that I found, the TR690's in the rear deck and TR600-CXi's in the front doors work exceptionally well. Much tighter bass and much clearer vocals. The upgrade was less than $200 and the sound is far better than the stock speakers.

The Navi head unit in the 7th Gen is an Alpine, the Non-Navi is a Panasonic. The 8th Gen Accords have Pioneer decks. These are not bad stereos. It's not like you are listening to a lousy Delco stereo from a GM. LOL.

I do have to say Paperboy, you have one of the cleanest lower pocket installs I have seen, and you chose an aftermarket head unit that actually looks good. So many aftermarket head units today look absolutely terrible!

I'm looking to buy some JL 5.25's for the front (two way) and 2 JL 6x9 in the rear(three way) would I need an amp? I'm not looking for something that will set off car alarms but I just got my accord less that two weeks ago and damn, this sound system is in the garbage.:thumbsdow I mean I'm sure Honda could've done something better than this. BUt anyway, did you add an amp to those speakers or did you leave them with the stock head unit only?

Do the size that came in the frt doors. 6.5". 5.25 have less bass response than 6.5's.

I just have to add my oem system the premium nav sounds better than any car I owned, the bass hits decently hard, and loudness is great, could it be better if course but for oem it makes me smile and even had friends comment on the sound ouput compared to there cars
