...so I've been looking over the other threads related to this discussion and to be honest there really is not huge, major changes in my opionion for the exterior. The 7th Gen and 7.5 Gen accords had more changes in my opion.

I may be wrong but here is what I see as the actual exterior changes:
-Front bumper/grill is different (hood, lights, fenders remain the same)
-Rims are different
-Tail lights are different (trunk, quarter panels, rear bumper remain the same)

From what I can see in pics the headlights are the same shape and size and the rear bumper and trunk remain unchanged.

Am I missing something....the 7-7.5 had more actual changes (tailight, rear bumper, trunk, front bumper/gill, headlights)

My theory for this is because the 8th gen is still not due for a major upgrade like they do before introducing a new gen. Generally you will see things like headlights and tail light changes a year or 2 prior to the new gen being release. Not to mention, Honda has made its move, now its toyotas turn. They will likely wait for the new carry before doing a major overhaul. In summary, I think its because the 8th gen isn't ready to go yet.

The 9th Gen Accord will be scheduled for 2013 or 2014. This 8.5 Gen Coupe change should be the one and only mid Gen change before its completely redesigned for the 9th Gen.

I mainly posted this thread because so many members are appauled by the 8.5Gen make over...but in reality only 3 items changed on the coupes exterior (tail lights, rims and front bumper)...nothing overly drastic IMHO. No actual metal body work is different...again, unless I am overlooking something. (I am only referring to the Coupe though...not the sedan)

Coupe as BT on steering wheel now and it's been separated from having to have NAV. Also, coupe as USB connection

the coupe is still using the same rear bumper and same rear quarter panels?
Yep....as far as I can tell....no sheet metal changes anywhere on the coupe. I know there is already plenty of other threads already discusing these changes. I am just scratching my head as to why so many comments make it seem like the car is going through this massive change, most threads are dedicated to how 'awful' the 8.5Gen looks. All the sheet metal and actual body lines are the same as the 08-10...tail lights, bumper and rims is all thats changed on the coupe. Again, maybe I missed something though...but the coupe really didn't change much.

Im strictly talking exterior changes...there are several minor changes inside though(some major such as memory seats and dual power seats).

Focusing just on the exterior is misleading. The intake on all engines was revised along with the ratios of the auto trans, the combination has led to an increase in mpg.

Yes, there are several other changes mechanically and also the interior. I was just mentioning the exterior since so many other threads are focussed on how 'terrible' the 8.5 looks when in reality only the bumper, tail lights and rims are different from the 08-10s coupe.

Perhaps the sentiment is more disappointment that the MMC wasn't more significant and jaw dropping. Since the 7th generation MMC was very well received and more noticeable in appearance, the 8th generation MMC seems a bit lackluster.

2010 EX-L's had this integrated, so it's not new to the 2011... unless I'm misunderstanding you...

the USB, yes, is diff in stock form but a relatively easy PnP add for 150$ if you're comfortable with dash removal (following CH video directions)

I think the tail lights "jut out" as well. In one of the angled profile pictures I saw of the 2011, it seemed to change the rear end body lines because of the new tail lights. It really looked more like the Altima coupe from that angle. I prefer 08-10 tail lights as it keeps the lines smooth. That's just me though.

Paddle shifting is kinda silly, it's a pain in the ass while you are accelerating in a turn and the paddle is at anywhere other than the 3oclock position you have to scramble to try to up shift.

Not to mention the system still shifts when it wants to, not necessarily when you want it to

It's a trend of most japanese automobiles manufacturers are doing now, subtle changes on bumper covers or lightning for intermediate generation. Toyato is doing the same.

If you look at the 8G Civic, it's been revised with bumper covers, grille and tailights too.

Another theory is the current model is doing great, so minor changes are only needed.

Manufacturers have more advantages in doing such changes to keep cost down and invetory clearance.

The 09 TSX doesn't Automatically shift if your in "S" Mode; looks like the exact same system; if you paddle shift in "D" it definitely will automatically shift

An e46 330ci's "S" Mode would automatically shift right before you touch redline

same experience with a '10 Genesis cpe 3.8 AT w/ the track pkg I tried out for a couple or hours a couple of weeks back --I definitely wanted to see how it handled such while ringing it out

have no regret on my car. I dont like the exterior of 8.5. Plus new features it has are already available on aftermarket. But seriously, i think the 8.5 is kinda over designed.:dunno:
