I guess he wants to be ready for road rage. :devil

No one's going to get away with shooting him the finger. :wink

Although I live in a State that permits concealed handguns to be carried with a permit I have never felt the need to carry a weapon.

The Second amendment to the Constitution has been interpreted by the Supream court to allow people to own guns and he therefore has the right to drive around armed.

I lived in The Rock for two years, back when it was crack central....

I had to be escorted to my car once by none other than the longtime cook at the Governor's mansion- Miss Liza, who despite being about 60 years old at the time still had the respect of gangbangers- mostly because they knew she could bring down about 20 State Troopers there in about 15 minutes.

Everyone had guns in Little Rock....

Everyone.

The North Little Rock Waffle House at 2 am was always exciting.

Once got detained by the Sherwood Police Dept for suspected manufacturing of meth when I walked out of the Super Walmart outside the USAF base. I bought the large pack of Sudafed for my brother's air crew as they returned from Afghanistan. Also bought coffee filters for the base, bleach for their clothes, plus a few other things that when added up, meant I made meth.

Johnny Law kept asking me where I kept my guns. Searched my rental car, my hotel room, and waited for my brother to land. My brother was a full Colonel, lands, hears about me being in lock up, then comes out with his entire air crew (direct from Afghanistan) to explain why being away for 6 months meant they needed all that stuff, and I was being a good little brother, and to leave me the (blank) alone.

Anyhow, I am still on some list in Arkansas so I can't buy cold medicine there. They told me to not visit any gun dealers down there.

I have a feeling most on this forum will be anti-gun due to all the politics and ignorance. I wouldn't use that style holster mounted as I don't feel it's very discreet, and I don't want holes in my center console. Also people need to know the laws where they live so they don't break the law. I carry IWB/OWB concealed even while I drive.

I live in L.A. and i haven't needed a gun all my life.

Do whatever makes you feel safe though.

I've never had my house catch on fire, but still own fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.

Not here to start a debate, I just don't understand why some people don't respect the rights of others. Other than to protect myself I carry concealed for 2 reasons.

1) I don't want to be the first target of a bad guy.

2) I have no desire to force my beliefs on others, or spook law abiding citizens that do not agree with conceal carry laws. I've been around people that open carry, and there have been a few that made me uncomfortable due to their obvious lack of training.

I don't carry but I would never begrudge anyone that did. I do begrudge those that try to make others feel like they shouldn't.

Odds are you will never need it, until you do. I've never needed a seatbelt either, so I guess they are stupid huh?

I personally do not trust our government, anyone that knows history, reads, can comprehend, etc. should not.

I guess leaving all the guns in the hands of the government, police etc. is the right way to feel, and to fit in huh? Thank god I could care less about that.

I wonder what needless war will be started next...that is okay with the American public, someone having a gun in their car...oh my god.

It's amazing how we have been conditioned to think.

OP, be safe.

Politics and ignorance...a match made in heaven.

thinking of mounting a holster by by right knee for easy access in my accord. something like this:

anyone got any other ideas?

I carry everywhere, and will continue to do so. You can always make the argument about how safe a certain place is, but I won't be crying defenseless should the 0.0001% chance event happen to me.
I would suggest you review the laws for your state, if you haven't already, to ensure that mounted holster isn't illegal. For example, in South Carolina, if anyone can see a gun (or print (read: impression against your clothes)), that is considered brandishing and is illegal. In North Carolina, if you're driving through on the interstate, a weapon has to be visible either in the seat or on the dash. And in other states even, it has to be in your trunk, separated from the clip. Just be sure to CYA!!
All in all, I think that's a great and creative idea though! Maybe also mount a little Velcro cover or something you can "conceal" the holster with?

Such kind words.
I avoid road rage by all means and confrontation if at all possible.

guys look i am not here to stir up a gun debate.I have found this forum to be very helpful in doing upgrades to my car. So, Im simply asking if someone has done this mod. If you are against guns, i completely respect that.

Nope... haven't carried since I've been back in NY. I had intentions to years ago, but it's a huge pain in the butt and my living situation didn't allow for it. I wasn't going to have a gun anywhere near kids I can't educate on them as it wouldn't do me much good if I had to keep it locked up unloaded and separated from ammo. I was actually thinking of pursuing one now that they're out of the house.

For those that do carry, how do traffic stops work? Do you let the officer know and hand over a permit right away or do you not mention it? I'd be afraid with the current climate of law enforcement that they'd see the gun and yank me out of the car if it was visible.

To be safe, don't ask don't tell! Unless you're in your own area and know the laws, you'd be pretty safe indicating, "I have a weapon in "X" location, how would you like me to proceed?"
If you're in a place whose laws you are unfamiliar with, definitely just let it go if you didn't do any research ahead of time. If you are super earnest, and try to do what the state requires, most LEOs will appreciate your efforts to attempt to comply.
I always advocate CWPs even if you don't intend to carry, just so you know the laws that protect you.

Always. Both professionally and personally for the last 50 years. Not much for hard mount car holsters myself, Arkccord. Normally on my person and if not for some reason I'm good with the console. Given that, I kinda like the one in your initial post

JenerationX....Traffic stop/LE contact legalities and etiquette vary state to state and place to place. Unless you're ret LE, good luck (and best wishes) with becoming carry legal in NY. Not at all a gun friendly state. Not wishing to get into further firearms discussion on a car board but happy to help, PM me if you'd like more and a good, reliable source on state by state hand gun law.

The unfortunate part is that the bad guy knows what he intends to do and by the time you get to your gun he's already shot you. That's especially the case if he thinks you are going for your gun. Or, he has a bigger gun and he disarms you and shoots you with your own gun. Or, worse you accidentally shoot yourself or your family member. Or your kid gets hold of your gun and shots the neighbor's kid which happened to a friend of mine's six year old dead son. But, you do have the right to own and in some states carry a concealed hand gun. The NRA proves that large sums of money well placed in the Congress gets results. Just be careful.

Do you live in a hostile environment? or are you still living in 1776 with the 'right to bear arms'? You don't need to bring a gun with you everywhere you go. That's like bringing a suitcase full clothes to the grocery store, a restaurant, movie theater, cafe etc. in case someone spills something on your clothes. It's an extremely rare situation in any event. I don't know why people are so paranoid these days. I don't make my beliefs and decisions based on politics because I have a mind of my own. Ignorance (today) = refusing to listen, understand why and change your beliefs to accommodate other people's beliefs. No matter how you look at it everyone is always going to be ignorant in everyone's eyes so I personally don't care if you think I am ignorant. I get that people want to feel 'safe' in case there is a bad guy. However, it only fuels the flame in hostility making more people want to have guns to feel 'safe' against those who have a gun in public. It's an on-going cycle. I believe the archaic "right to bear arms" is a poor excuse for citizens to carry guns everywhere in public today. Its sole intent was to arm yourself against the Lobsterbacks.

Probably a .22

The lawyer that conducted a portion of my CCW class, conveniently held at the local Sheriff's substation, stated that one should always advise the LEO that you have a permit and where the weapon is located.

Not to trivialize the situation but your friend did not pay close attention in CCW class, read related material, do internet searches, or purchase appropriate storage for his weapon. Owning and carrying a weapon is serious business.

Large sums of money placed in Congress by any large organization or individual will garner influence and results.

Haven't looked at the news or read the crime stats lately have you?
