Something I must have in my cars also. On my 04 like how the auto dimming mirror had a compass built in, also it was quick to dim. One of the biggest advantages is if driving east during sunset, you don't have to flip the mirror, you can still have a regular view. With new oem ones, some people have reported the dimming sensor isn't as sensitive as the older style & the edges don't seem to dim. Haven't used mine enough to notice as I do little night driving now. Aftermarket Gentex seem to be popular. - The Mirror as a Module | Gentex.

I have to disagree with others here, I think it's a waste of money. I have the EX-L and can hardly notice a difference between off and on. I think it has to do with the extreme slant of the rear glass, I don't know why. I am not a hater of auto dimming, I love the feature in all my other vehicles past and present.

Believe it or not, I’ll likely have a 2019 Touring around this time next year, and I’ll want to know if an “old-style” Gentex unit (like the one in my current 2013, with a light-diffusing black rim and a “beefier” feel, but with HomeLink added, like in some Nissans and the current Camry) will “plug and play,” and if the mount can be adapted.

As I suspected when the up-trim TLXs appeared with the new mirror, when I fiddled with one in a new Odyssey at my dealer, the piece feels less substantial than the one in my current car, which could really be a problem, since you’re probably going to be adjusting the mirror all the time since you’ll be moving it a little every time you open the garage!

And secondly, the moment I first saw this abomination in the aforementioned TLX, I could not “un-see,” because of the odd, “smiley” appearance of the mirror (upside-down trapezoid), the facial expression of a demented clown! And for whatever crazy reason, I won’t want that “staring” at me from the windshield header! Such that I will actually spend money to remove a functioning mirror with HomeLink and replace it with the rimmed mirror with HomeLink, then take it with me from one car to the next, putting the old “smiley” one back in at trade-in time!

If you’re paying attention, you probably notice that these identical mirrors are darn near metastasizing through the auto industry, going into everything but GM, Ford, and HyundKia products! Should have bought stock in the company! ?
