Engine Air filter and Cabin Air Filter are supposed to be done at B1 as well, make sure thats in the cost.

Do it yourself. You can get a full synthetic Mobil 1 oil and filter for about $10 more and the rotation, use that money and invest in a low profile jack(the large ones, not the wimpy jack that can only lift one side at a time) and jack stands. And rotate tires yourself. Assuming you're still young, hence "kid" in your username, you should do it yourself.

i knew a "do it yourself" post was coming :). there's only on street parking where i live so its a PITA to do these simple maintenance things myself at home. if i can coordinate doing maintenance with visits to my folks about an hour a way, i'll do simple things myself (fluid/filter changes, brakes, etc...) but thats not always feasible.

i just wanted to post my out of pocket cost for having someone else do it so other folks that are in the same boat have a basis for comparison when shopping around for this service when the time comes.

Filters aren't included in B1. B1 is basically just a routine oil service and tire rotation with some added inspections.
oil filters are supposed to be included in B1, but air filters are as needed. i took a peek with the tech when i dropped it off and they are just gonna blow out my current air filter since it still looks OK.

no worries, i just noticed your post referenced the cabin filter and i was talking about the air filter... i think the cabin filter is as needed or every 15k and not part of B1, but oil filter is.

Wait... You're telling me having "Kid" in your nickname doesn't mean you are a kid forever? Damn! :thumbsdow

OP,

Is that the only dealer close to you? Never be afraid to barter. You would be surprised what you can get discounts on.

You don't have to go all the way DIY, but certainly anyone can change a friggin air filter no? Why pay the dealer a) LABOR and b) PROFIT ON THE FILTER to avoid a 3 minute job that is not at all messy? I guess if you truly don't even own a socket set or a screwdriver then sure, have them do it.

I understand the oil stuff is more messy and while I've started DIYing fluids, I understand not everyone would or could want to

its not a dealer, independent shop that only does Honda/Acura. found them when i bought my first Honda in 08'. only time i havent taken my car there is on that first A1 service which has been thrown in by the dealer at purchase.

agreed, and for stuff like an air filter swap i can easily do it.

to restate again, the purpose of my post and thread was to give folks that don't DIY an idea of the B1 price, not to debate DIY vs service by others.

Fair enough

I would maintain, however, that NOBODY should be buying a full "B1 Service" from any dealer for any reason  Unless of course the B1 Service is only more expensive by basically the cost of the relevant air filters, if indeed you actually even needed to change the air filters (maybe they are still fine).

agreed and that's why I don't go to dealers to service my car

Did it Myself, HONDA GENUINE AIR FILTER + CABIN FILTER COMBO from EBAY $49.95, I got Free Tire rotation from AMERICA'S TIRE, and Went to Mechanic for my oil change $25, Mobil 1 FULL SYNTHETIC $25.

Never even seen an A1 or B1 service. At around 8k I got an "A" service reminder. Again, at around 17.5k I got a "B" service reminder. Never seen a 1 or a 2. Car now has 17,868. Just did the second oil change this morning.
